Will the break solve the problem ?

Hello, i have dealt with russet or maybe broad mites for a couple months ago, and it got so serious i had to close down my grow, and find a new place. I have stored all my equipment outside in a shed. I was hoping the cold (23 fahrenheit) and the length of time (three month) would destroy every single particle of these critters.

Is that too much to hope for? Should i still sterilize everything before putting new plants in??

I personally wouldn’t depend on the cold but I like where your heads at. I would grab a few bottles of rubbing alcohol and a rag and wipe everything down. Let it air out and then go back to it. The extra effort is always worth it. Good luck.

Thanks. I will throw alot of my equipmemt away, so i only have tents, lights, exhaust and fertilizer remaining. And the give it a good scrub with alcohol..

My logic thinking would say they would perish with the amount of time in the cold. But i take no chances with these fuckers, since i tried everything to get rid of them before taking the final solution and make a break from growing

Oh my.. Really?? What is the best method? Alcohol, vinegar, ozone???

lots of info here and on the World Wide Web

They may be in the room also, sulfur bomb it
I already bought sulphur vaporizer. No effect.
Spraying sulphur, - little to no effect.

The only thing really worked was Avid (abamectin). But only for some time, till they returned again. If i lived in US, i would have a lot more chemicals to use. But in my country i was lucky to get the Avid. Also i think i have overused this chemical, since i had nothing else. So maybe they became super bugs 👍

I was having real bug issues and stopped everything recently. Put all the soil in the shed
so bugs could freeze and cleaned my tent twice over a week's time just in case some bugs
escaped the 1st treatment. After a few weeks, I slowly got new soil and used my oven at
190-200F for 90 minutes to kill any eggs in the older soil. Haven't seen anymore bugs.

Cheers.

Maybe i should throw out my tents also, and just clean up my lights, exhaust and fertilizer then
You’re overthinking things, don’t waste your money and don’t throw anything away. Leave the stuff outside where it’s at and remove each item once by one and scrub it with alcohol and rag and put somewhere clean and continue until everything’s clean. This will solve it, and like people said watch for eggs but honestly if you do a good job cleaning that won’t be a problem. Don’t overlook cleaning the grow room the tent sits in as well.

Clean it and then bomb your plants with a pest bomb during veg just to be sure if you want to be extra paranoid.

You can’t throw everything anyway every time you have an issue. Just take a deep breath, and smoke a bowl.

Heat will get the life cycle going, where there is nothing to live on. That leads to death.
Cold won't kill them, or they wouldn't of evolved in your climate.

Most of the things you listed, that didn't work, are plant friendly. Why would you be spending money on plant safe stuff, when you could be using greenhouse cleaning products, that kill plants if present. Hardcore sulphur candles, Jeyes fluid, neat 'thin' bleach. Things you know that nothing can live through, but washes away.

Bleach the hell out of everything to kill the eggs and starve the bugs for two weeks without having anything green. Then bleach them a second time after 12 days. Start with a new fresh substrate. When the new plants get 4 sets of leaves spray with cold-pressed neem and a drop of dish soap in warm water. Then hit the plants again with the same mix every 3 days for 12 days total. All the sprayed leaves will be gone by flowering time and so will the bugs.

Your best path forward is a very strict IPM SOP. SUFFOILX is the best mite fighter there is . They can't become resistant to it . Treat new plants every 3 to 5 days . After 2-3 weeks you can probably back off to treating plants 1x per week. Throwing things away isn't the answer . These mites only wanna live on plants and not grow equipment. I thorough cleaning wouldn't hurt tho. Keep your head up you'll get past this .
