I just created a sheet of this filter material by sandwiching carbon inbetween two pieces of t-shirt, then sandwiched that between chickenwire, twisting the ends of the wire together to form a rigid piece of bendable material.
Next I curled it into a 4" tube and twisted the ends together again to match my ducting, and used aluminum tape to seal it up, including the end cap. I used a duct elbow to keep it out of sight, but it isn't necessary.
There is approx. 2-3oz of activated carbon spread out 1/4 thick, and wider in the bubbles. The bubbles from the chickenwire being smashed together, I think give it more surface area then if it was smooth. It's approx. 1' long.
The air comes out all over the carbon surface at a very mild breeze. I don't smell anything from it, but my 2 plants are only just switched to flower. Does this sound like a sufficient filter, and like it's working well? It made the temp raise in my box by about 5 degrees F. My box is 4'x4'x2' with a 400w hps in a cool tube powered by a fantech 256 (i think it's 256).
