Will mosquito hawks kill fungus gnats?

Hello all I was just wondering if anyone has had experience with mosquito hawks and if they are predators of any problematic critters that might reside in the garden?

No, their actually bad for some plants though cuz the larva eat the roots. hears a link for ya:

Try some nematodes from your local nursery (They'll know the type) or mmosquito dunks. I Got the S. Felteia Nematodes and they worked in 2 days tops, no more gnats!!

Another way is to.....

Another way is to.....

Put about an inch of clean white sand on your soil. The sand keeps the gnats from hatching their eggs in the soil. No food for the larvae! The white sand also reflects light back to your plants. A win/win situation! - Granny :joint:

perlite does the same but is not so heavy...if u bother top dressing. dont forget the drain holes. i hate those gnats. iv a no pest strip every 3 foot in my rooms. NO bugs at all.

this prevents laying of eggs.does not kill anything but imerging adult

That's what sticky fly strips are for! Fungus gnats are attracted to dark surfaces, like dirt, to lay their eggs. If you have white "ground", and dark amber fly strips- the gnats will head to the strips! They also like those bright yellow traps on sale at most garden supply stores. No poisons needed (or wanted) on my grows!- Granny

w/sand u are preventing the adult from laying eggs because the sand (perlite is exact same) cuts the egg laying tube of the gnat(cant.remember sci fi name) only reason i dont like sand is its heavy and travels down w/waterings. it also preserves already layed eggs. meaning if you reuse soil ull get gnats.

i used coarse play ground sand. pre cleaned, but perlite is just easier ime.

i put no poision on my plants. i also grow many ladies in perpetual. i cant take chances. iv bills.

just my cents
