title says it all there in 1 gallon pots right now waiting for my 250 to get here just wonderin if ill be able to finish in 3 gallon grow bags with lotsa nutes and water. they are in soil the strains are lifesaver and bogglegum all sexed fems!!i could top em a few times to lessen mass ? i have enough experience in lst so im not really worried about height.

You can, but the yield would obviously be less and they probably won't stretch very much. I have flowered 4 foot tall plants in 3 gallon pots. They were very bushy too. The yield wasn't great though, only about 1.5-2 oz. per plant with a 400w hps.

EDIT: they will also probably need to be watered more often.

alrighty im looking for around 2 ounces a plant on a 250 so no biggie extra watering wont be a problem. any more speculation on this?

I use three gallon bags.and i have to keep the height down to about three ft.(from soil to cola). i use three gallon bags because i can fit more plants under the light canopy than i can with 5 gallon bags. But I never considered that my overall yields would be less. The roots dont get bound the 3 gallon bag, so could I really benefit from going back up to a 5 gallon?
Peace

if their not getting bound i dont understand how their not stretching to it full potential? i think that 3 gallon bags will suit me just fine i can cram in 6 3 gallon grow bags instead of 2 round 5 gallon pots some how that works im shooting for about 2 ounces a plant under about 350 watts. any body thinks its possible or am i jsut a dreamer i plan on having about 30 shoots per plant so should be alot as ive seen 6 ounces off a 150 its possible right??

I think it is possible but you will not have the best penetration with the low wattage.

I could be wrong, but getting 6 oz from one plant under a 150 w light, that's gonna take some serious vegging for a very big bush, and no fert / watering mistakes to stunt growth. My first run, 6 trainwreck, I lsted them and had a load of branches

I got 2 oz dried bud from this plant under a 400 W.

Don't think anyone is saying it can't be done, but that is a very ambitious goal to attain under a 250W light.

I got over 4 ounces off one plant (Nirvana NL). It was a bush that I vegged to about 2 1/2 - 3 feet tall, and then bent down under the screen for flowering in a scrog.

It was vegged under 2 x 40W flouresent fixtures (4x40W bulbs =160W), and then flowered under 250W (150W Hps + 100W MH in a homemade ghetto hood).

I finished her in a 2.5 gallon pot. I think you'll be alright in the 3 Gal growbags, but what do I know?

Sounds like BS to me. 4 ounces off of one plant in a 2.5 gallon pot especially under a 250w light would be very hard to achieve. 250w's provide little penetration compared to higher wattage hps lights. I'd like to see pics, because i'm not believing it. Did you use an accurate scale to weigh it all? And was it fully dried?

Dude, you can totally pull off 2 zips per plant if you feed correctly, including the right nutes. Trick is, imo, to let soil dry out and then wait another day or two before watering again. During this time the roots will grow much more rapidly as they are searching for water. If you wanter frequently and don't let the soil dry out enough, they will never develop the need ot grow, searchging for water. Got it?

On top of that, make sure you veg long enough. Not much else to tell ya. Good luck and keep us posted!

hey mgj i never said off of one plant, jeez i wish, User name, was the dude who pulled off 6 ounces off a scrog not sure how many plants. also it would be under 350 watts with some heavy yielding strains-lifesaver c99 bogglegum.. etc how were the density on those trainwreck buds? im shooting for around 2 ounces 350 watts very over cooled!!

Under a screen this is very possible. I've pulled 3 zips off a 3-4 foot tall plant in 3 gallon buckets many times.

It also depends on the strain.

yea all we have to do is watch out for pessimistic people who are only set in their ways. no intential offense sweet indica but dont knock it till youve tried it, and just because youve never achieved it doesnt mean it cant happen with the right strain and nutes and training

With a 250w light and 2.5 gallon pot, i doubt it's possible. Maybe using a scrog, with a much bigger pot. But your not going to pull off 4 oz. off of a plant in a pot that small. Even with a bigger pot, it must of been his only plant to achieve that..and why would he use a 2.5 gallon pot if he only had one plant under the light.

budfather- i didn't say anything towards you so don't get involved. When i see the evidence i will believe it..it's just annoying when people choose to lie over a fucking internet forum, it's sad.

Why do you need a bigger pot? I've used 3 gallon pots for years and they work just fine. The bigger the pot the bigger the yield yes, but also longer veg time.

Sweet answer me this then. How come plants grow so big in hydro using 1 gallon pots?

I understand hydro is diff , but not much if you give your plants the right nutes.

LSTing and other training methods increase yield. No wasted light. it is very possible not easy, but very possible.

Just my 2 cents

My bad, thought you wanted 2 zips / plant... :pointlaug 6 zips off a scrog is doable, but again you have to veg long enough to fill the screen. Trainwreck buds were typical sativa nugs - not dense like lifesaver.

So are you aiming for 2 oz from the three plants, you should make that. You wrote the magic words for good yields - right strain, right nutes, and right training.

Sorry if my misunderstanding caused confusion...

It would probably be better if you didnt get involved!
