will clones root with indirect hps light or do they need a fluro light above them?

I have a small mother room going with a 1000 watt hps/mh ballast running at 600 watt hps at the moment.

Most of the plants are in 7 gallon , and a few in 5 gallon buckets.

My question is can I succesfully root clones without a fluro right above the clones?

I know clones need humidity and need to have the dome over the plastic black tray that they sit in when they are growing their roots.

I'm wondering if I put a bunch of clones on those shelves if they would get enough light. Granted I may have to rotate the clone tray so that the opposite side gets exposed to light.

Do you think I could get clones out of this setup? or do I need to grab some fluros and make the clones with the traditional method of placing fluros right above them?

IME clones will root with very minimal light, I just set my trays off to the side of my T5.. Might not work the same with HPS but I don't see why not.

oceangrownkush: I also don't see why not. lumens are lumens i.e radiation just at different freq and wavelength.

But I'd like to hear from someone who has successfully pulled it off. See if there are any details that might help the cuttings root with 100% success.

Thanks for the confirmation BakedBandit!!!

I will take the cuttings and put them in rockwhool cubes. Should I add some nutes to the water when I soak the rockwhool?

What to you recommend for cloning gel powder liquid etc? I used clone x gel and it worked well in the past.

Then they will be in potting soil with ALOT of perlite or sunshine mix #5 ( the fake soil) with the perlite.

I plan to use a high horse power pump to really oxygenate the water when they get fed from the spitters for flowering. That won't be till a while however because I'm trying to get a lot of big mothers so its just vegging for now under the 600w hps.

These first clones I will be taking will be the smaller branches near the bottom.
