Will a THCA oil turn to THC when heated

Hi all, a question for you that I think I know the answer but am not sure. I made a coconut oil with a bunch of flowers and didn't decarb since I prefer the effects of THCA, cooked in Crock pot on low for 12 hours and it came out great. My question is will the THCA in the oil decarb and turn to THC when I bake with it? I'm thinking not but thought someone would know. Thanks.

short answer yes, any heat will begin the decarb process its a matter of temp and pressure which determines the rate and time determines the amount of thca converted and thc degraded.

if you have cooked it in a crock pot for 12 hours you almost certainly have activated oil already, to some degree at least, cooking it in a product will further activate it.

if you want thca i would take skunkman sams advice and make and eat hash; dry sift and or bubble... if you still want a coconut oil delivery system combine hash or buds with the oil over the most minimal heat (strain in the case of flowers) and ecapsulate it.

To elaborate - the story on crock pot "low" seems to be 200°F, though possibly higher over time. Referring to the oft-referenced graph below (thanks to SkunkPharm), you'd need excellent extrapolation skills to estimate the effect at 12 hours, and you also need to make some assumptions about how much THCA was originally present in their sample. For the effect of baking, note that your baked goods might not ever reach oven temperature, the moisture holds them closer to 212°F.

Note also that there's some conversion to CBN going on at the same time - I think that's what you see in the downward slopes at higher temperature and time, and I assume it's also effective at lower temperatures but don't know for sure.

Thank you guys, I appreciate the feed back. I usually have just eaten bubble but always looking for new ways to to help with the medical. I've found that many looking for relief find the THC too much. Thanks again.
