So in other words, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, NO "COMMENT ONLY" POSTS LIKE "WOW, THAT WAS A GREAT STORY" OR THE INFAMOUS "IN THAT SITUATION, I WOULDA DONE THIS...." type posts!!

I hate going into threads like a "post ur photo" thread or whatever & 3/4ths of the posts don't even have pics, they just have "wow, that was a great pic". If ya wanna do that, please PM the person or post ur own story in with the "comment". Let's keep this relative & interesting.

I'll start it off with my personal story...

A PERFECT EXAMPLE OF WHY MARIJUANA SHOULD BE DECRIMINALIZED!!!

Back in High School (mid-80's), I had a rep for being able to fight pretty well. I used to run in all the housing projects, in the city where I lived. I am an old school hip hop head (SINCE 1978) & used to run heavily in the urban enviroment. None of that is very uncommon, except for the fact that I'm caucasion & there were not many caucasion that were into hip hop back then, so u can imagine how many times I got "tested", so I had to be nice with my hands (fighting). I was also pretty well known locally cuz of some talent the I had as a rapper in the early to late 80's. I was pretty wild & had no conscience. I sold weed, etc, back when we sold loose joints, nicks & dimes & lids. I also used to get in quite a bit of trouble with the cops cuz I had a hobby of taking things that didn't belong to me & I did that in many different ways. I was also pretty short tempered. i smoked weed on the regular & drank alot.

After high school, I met a lady (now my wife), went in to the military for about 12 years & both of those combined helped me to grow up & turn my life in a more positive direction. I had to stop smoking (well, I smoked maybe 4 times in those 12 years). I also quite drinking (except socially) about 8 yrs ago. I got out of the military cuz I got hurt (medical discharge). I have held "professional" jobs since that time so I no longer run in the "urban enviroment" much, in the ways that I used to. I have been out of that elemnet for a good while now. I went from being on one extreme (a real ruffneck that was always in trouble with the law as a juvy) to the other (a business professional that tries to obey most laws, except marijuana, & is very respectable & fair).

I began smoking weed again approx 3 years ago & it's been a daily thing since then. I always had good connects, so I never bothered growing my own. I am used to smoking buds that I know the name of like Afgani, Odins Hammer, CHarleston Chew, etc, etc. I moved to Atlanta & do not have any connections (I do have a small harvest of my own coming in approx 1 month). I'm working on my setup now.

Well, new city, no connects & I've been out of smoke for approx 3 weeks & I hate it. I have tried differnt people that I know & nobody can come up with anything. So a couple nites ago I go to a spot & have quite a few drinks (remember I don't really drink anymore). I'm feeling pretty good as I drive home but I sure would like something to smoke....so I venture into the "urban enviroment" where I know I can find at least a dime. REMEMBER I'M NEW TO MY CITY, so I don't really know the "bad spots" either. Anyway, my drunk ass ventures into an area (housing projects) that it's obvious people are selling. I give a guy the siganl & he comes over & gets in the passenger side of my car. (Not worried cuz I always have a "weasel popper" under my seat). He tries to hand me what looked to be a very small "nick" of what looked to be playground dirt, for $20. I called "bullshit" & started to put him out my car, so he apologizes emphatically & says he does have some "good mids" around the corner. So again, my drunk, dumbass drives around the corner & he runs upp to a group of guys & brings back a dime....I give him 20 (maybe that is Ga prices, I'm new here so I roll with it). When I get down the road, I go to make a cell call & my phone is gone. DAMMIT, I forgat that it was setting on the passenger seat. He got me for my cell & 20 for some "headache" (doesn't get me high, just gives me a headache).

I told my whole background to get to this point
My guard wasn't as sharp as it shoulda been, cuz a) I have been out of that enviroment for many years b) I had a few too many drinks (very nice alcohol buzz but not drunk)
Anyway, I rode up & down the street for 1 1/2 hours with my "weasel popper", after I realized my phone was missing. It's not that the phone was really expensive or anything like that.....it's the point that he stole it from me.....my old ways came back outta me!!!! I woulda got in some serious trouble if I had found that guy last nite!!!! See, it bothers me so much cuz I used to be like that guy & even ran in the projects ALL THE TIME but now I am a VERY law abiding, upstanding, model citizen & I live in a very very very nice area!!! I had absolutlely no business in the projects trying to find a small amount of weed for personal use!!!!!!! I planned on searching for him today too, but now I am back to my senses & figure that I really don't wanna risk getting into that kind of trouble anymore.....but dayum it bothers me!!! Karma, I guess.

Read the moral behind the story.
1. I have smoked daily for the past many years & have been bone dry for approx 3 weeks.
2. Moved to a new city & have no connects (should I really need a "connect" or should it be legalized?)
3. If I could FREELY grow my own, or if marijuana was decriminalized, this story would have never happened.
4. I am not the only person (of any race) that has, at one time or another, put themselves in a dangerous spot to buy some herb. Should it have to be done in the shadows or should it be decriminalized?

Psuedo Krypto = If u smoke daily & know wht it's like to be out for an extended period of time, then u understand why I stopped there. Right off the hwy on the way home. Moral is, it should be LEGAL, I should not have had to venture into the PJ's to find something. I coulda gotten hurt, he coulda gotten hurt all becuase MJ is not decriminalized & that was/is the only spot that I knew of to hit where it was readily available.

That was not a particularily bad story. I have had worse than that happen. Well, never had my phone stolen because a) for the longest time I did not have one and when I did get one it was a piece that no one would ever want to steal and b) when I did get one, I would hang on to it, not leave it in the seat for some stranger to sit on and steal. I do not really drive around in the projects either, that is pretty dumb. Just asking for something to happen if you are not familiar with the area.
Marijuana should be legalized because it needs to be, not because some people have a hard time getting it. Pretty typical "trying to find weed in a new city" story if you ask me.
And should you be driving around after you have had "quite a few drinks" (remember, you don't really drink anymore)? Sounds like you had it coming. Do not be mad at someone for stealing your phone when you just left it in the seat they were gonna sit in. Especially a stranger, in the ghetto.

Agreed Tarkus! As I said, I had no business doing what I did & I have tried other outlets, REPEATEDLY, but I've had no luck. Thanks for posting something other than insults. Ur response is much appreciated!

The point that I was trying to make was.....that if MJ was "decriminalized"....people (not just me) would not need to put themselves in awkard (sometimes dangerous) positions to find some herb.

I believe my story (& many others like mine), lend credibility to what L.E.A.P is trying to do. Point being, one very harmless "illegal act" (smoking/buying weed) can lead to other illegal acts cuz if I had realized my phone was missing before the guy got outta my sight, there prolly would been other crimes commited. I woulda confronted him & he coulda snapped on me or visa versa....no telling what woulda happened.

Rhetorical question (directed at no one in particular), if u smoke & the only place that u know of to find weed is in a "bad" area, do u totally quit smoking or do u go into the "bad" area to buy a sack? I think most people would prolly venture into that "bad" area.

Well the wasted tax money for one. The war on drugs is a joke..look how many people are arrested/thrown into jail for pot. It's stupid..no if's or but's..

Zero deaths is a pretty valid argument too...compared to alcohol and ciggies..pot is a saint! And i would like the right to choose my relief. Let's face it..people have gotten drunk/high longer than i dare to imagine. Thinking and everyday living can be a burden sometimes and it can cause stress. Mostly the things you can do nothing about so why burden yourself ?

EDIT: and of course why give money to criminals. If marijuana would be taxed by the government we could build kindergardens, care centers or whatever!

I've said this in another thread recently but I'll say it again. I don't need anyone telling me what I can or cannot do to my own body. Whether it be piercings, tattoos, drugs or even suicide. (just for the record I'm not suicidal, have any piercings, or have any tattoos) But I've met a whole lot of people (99.99%) that think legalizing ALL drugs is the dumbest thing ever. I absolutely HATE that mentality. If the only thing keeping you from doing drugs is the fact that the government says it's bad you've got some serious reality issues going on. Drugs are illegal for a reason...and that reason is to control the masses. RIDICULIOUS!

*edit* Umm...a story...ok. I was talking to someone about my views on politics and explained what I as a Libertarian believe. When I told them I think prostitution and drugs should be legal that started laughing and will probably never take me seriously ever again. These kind of people have the government so far down their throats that they honestly think they NEED the structure to survive. Sure the structure is needed to live life as we know it, but succumbing to that structure like it is the one and only structure that can ever exist is ridiculous. Think outside the box and you will see that these are very dark times for humanity. (on a happy note though, I just whistled a fun song).

OK OK I got one, I get real strong bouts of frustration/anger so I go to a Dr. and he calls me manic and puts me on a string of scripts that has me waliking in my sleep basically. If I smoke I'm a) much calmer in general and b) takes ALOT more to get me going. MJ just kinda makes sense no. I even told this Dr. whats up and he agreed, just not in a state where I can get a Rec. not yet at least...
