Why must I flush this soil to get perfection

S

Ingredients all mixed in big rubbermaid. I find when I first use the soil it makes plants very green but droopy leaves. As soon as I flush the soil very well it turns to the best soil I have ever used. Is there a problem with any of the ingredients. For example what type of N is in the humus soil? I am not getting burn marks only dropping and very green.

humus soil conditioner walmart 30%
top soil walmart 40%
seedling soil local nursery 20%
cup of guano dr. eath
half cup bone meal
dolmite lime granuals 1/3 cup
perlite 30%

before flush

after

I woudlnt post a question like this if I could not understand the basics of watering. They were already VERY wet for 3 days with very heavy pots until I flushed. I was even told not to flush an already wet pot but I did and the results were instant. They perked up within an hour.

What I have been told since, is the Humus soil conditioner is very unpredictable and could be the cause of this. I notice I didnt get many answers but I wanted to throw it out there for someone else who may have experienced something like this. Organic humus from walmart is something I never used before

Ammonia nitrogen is toxic to plants. This is the ingredient in blood meal and other organic nitrogen sources. Watering diluted the bad n. You forgot potassium. This is a macronutrient. (Needed in large amounts)

could be..

Maybe we should mix .. keep moist and turn it a few weeks before use.

During that time we might even heat it up with some alfalfa meal and kelp.

Let the chemical aspect work itself out before use.

BTW they look great.

They might get a kick out of a little blackstrap right about now.

Other things I though of is the soil temps are too high for the roots.

That's all the input i have ATM.

lady...i think if it were a problem with the overabundance of ammonical nitrogen then there would be some sort of burn or yellowing out. this seems to be like could be a pH problem brought about by the lime, which is locking out nutrients. do you know the pH? I also agree with burnone...i mean look at them before and after...unless your water source's pH is that much different from your mix's pH, which is might be...i think they really just needed a drink. i have noticed that my ladies dangle like this if they are beginning to get pot bound, as the soil does not hold as much water as it once did coupled with the fact the roots need more water. I would suggest transplanting if you could, or just water them like a bastard. personally, i give my ladies as much root space as a can...have 3 gals now, but gonna get 5's...

you might also wanna look into a better feeding regiment...i mean the guanos and the bone meal isnt bad..but you need micronutes and some kelp meal...also, i suggest EWC...provides beneficial bacteria and is great fert. i would scroll the forums for mixes...there are some beauties out there. i would also invest in a handy pH meter. probably the single most important thing a grower can have, and if anyone tells you otherwise they are fools...i said it.

peace and good luck.

Thanks for the input everyone. I am really happy with the mix once its flushed . Just so you know that first pic was after a transplant and very watered. Did the same thing when I transplanted into 4 gallon so I flushed real well and this is the result.

Oh Nice!

That's really lush.

Keep the light strong during the switch to 12/12 or she will stretch bad.

That's strange.
Try a proven recipe from a STICKY and uppot. Whatever has been happening would be a waste of a beautiful plant.
Good luck.

I will answer my own question and say I will use less humus soil conditioner :chin: next time. All I know is the soil is dialed in for the rest of the plants life after one flush and I couldnt be happier with the mix. Plant looks good to me. There is no need to feed for a while either.I didnt mean to sound like a noob
