Why doesn't anybody sell large square pots ?

I've searched plenty on google, and checked various grow shops, and nobody seems to sell large, square plastic pots (3-5 gallons). I prefer square pots over round ones, since they save space (crucial for people like me with small grow spaces, cabinets) and you get more soil volume (better yield) in a square pot than a round one, and they're easier to transplant and to trim-cut roots. You'd think that somebody would make some large size square pots, but I've never come across any, and it's not because I haven't looked.

If anybody has any link to large, plastic square pots that they've come across, then feel free to post it. And no growbags, those don't work for my grow style. I'm sure there's a few products not intended for growing that could be converted to pots, but I still think it's strange that nobody makes large square pots.

stop checking hydro shops and go to home depot. they have 3 gallon square pots there, im not sure about anything over that. 3 gallon is the most u need indoor anyways, if your not growing your plants taller then say 4 feet

I've been to home depot before many times, but haven't seen any large square pots. Maybe different home depots in different regions of the country carry different products. I'll check again next time I'm at the depot. Height is of no concern if somebody is training the plants, and roots will obviously have more room to grow in a 5 gallon vs 3 gallon. On my first grow with only 1 bagseed plant, I had that in a 5 gallon pot, and I think that helped my yield alot. It depends how long somebody is going to veg for also, of course.

Look up cymbidium orchid pots on ebay express. They are eight inch square on the inside but are a foot and a half tall. Over two gallons.

Your welcome. I was looking for square pots for so long too and came by them on ebay. They have been the perfect pot for me. I think there are other square pots called "perfect pot".

Thanks for the orchid pot info. They're a little too tall for my cabinet, the perfect pots seem a little bit more up my alley, though I'd wish that they were just slightly larger, like 3 gallons, or 4.

Sounds like you are trying to do a scrog maybe?

No, I've never done a scrog before. I usually LST heavily and try to flower out a few large plants, and every inch counts in a cabinet such as mine.

I can fit two 3 gallon round pots or two 5 gallon round pots, but not 3 of either.

Get some grow bags!

They rock. Lotsa sizes and I've used em for large plants (5 gallon bags) as well as small ones (1 gallon bags). They're durable, cheap, and you can really pack 'em in together. :headbange

I use the same trashcan, Major. They work great as far as I'm concerned. Not sure how big yours are but mine are 7 gallons. They have a nice lip around them for tying to if your doing LST. Drill some holes for air. They suit my purpose.

They have the pots you are looking for here at bustan dot ca.

They sell online. The store is in Canada. I believe the pots are made in the Netherlands.

I believe 3 gallons are the largest size they have.

Here's the link:

These pots should be ideal for your needs.

Great, thanks ! I checked it real quick, and the square 3 gallon one is pretty much precisely what I've been looking for. I'm probably going to order a few of those for my next grow.

If you have cats, or know someone who does, cat liter can be found in large square buckets about 5 gallons in size.

The blue buckets are laundry soap buckets. They hold 4 gallons. Kitty Litter bucket is an inch taller and about 3" wider. I'd guess about 5 gallons, maybe more.

The rose pots(7x7x10) listed at that website are pretty expensive. I can get them at my hydro shop for about $2.50. They are only about 1 1/2 gallon. They also carry a 9 x 9 x 12, but I don't know the price.
Check out www.thegrowlight.com. They have 8.5 x 8.5 pots that are about 2.5 gallon. Price is $3.50
