hello everyone,

in one of the jars in which i have been curing well dried buds for over 2 weeks, i found some gray/whitish dusty kind of substance, looks like some kind of mold. it was on some buds, so i removed the buds with the dust on them. will the other buds get infected as well? here's the best pic i could get up-close due to my poor photo skills.

any info will be appreciated. thank you.

peace!

if it is some type of mold, im pretty sure spores have fallen off the buds ya removed, and into the jar. if conditions were right they could grow on the uneffected buds as well.

heard hash bags will remove the mold spores from the trics. so guess its saveable.

dont try smokin it, least i wouldnt, cant be good smokin mold

MOLD BAD!, add some very dry warm to hot air during your dry to prevent.
i use a space heater to keep temps up to as close to 80 as poss just for the first 2 days 12/12 that helps dry em out and higher temps help avoid any mold from starting.
if its just in the jars during cure... they needed to dry more b4 going into the jars. take it out ofTHAT jar, put it on a paper plate under a lamp or light. this adds heat and light, both killers of mold. it will help it to stop RUINING ALL YOUR BUD. as its not ever good for fertlizer after fully infected w/ mold. makes it taist like smoking dirt.yuk
sorry to hear this
hope this helps...
IF YOU HAVE HASH BAGS... DONT THROW AWAY! If not.... well. bad.

thank you guys, it is definetly mold that arose during the cure, but it came suddenly, in less than 36 hours that i had not checked the jars...
i will be throwing the bud away that got infected and put on quarantine the rest of the bud from that jar... much peace and thanks again!

In the interest of future searches on this subject: A very serious lung infection can result from smoking moldy bud. Never, ever risk smoking moldy bud.

Conditions that cause mold also probably cause a rapid breakdown in THC, resulting in a higher level of CBN in the the smoke. That causes an unpleasant, unclear and muddled effect.

and your sure they are dry enough for the jar?

sometimes on airy sativas the buds will be dry too quickly just from being open structured and when put in jars the wet stems will overhydrate the jar.

the only other thing I can ask is if your buds are being stored somewhere with an inconsistent tempature. once I had a tupperware container with a few different jars of weed in it above the veg box in my room. at night the temps would get quite cold and during the day it would get pretty warm pretty fast. a condensation formed in the jars from the rapid tempature change which caused some jars to get mold. if you opened the jar in the afternoon you couldn't tell, but if you got it a few hours after sunup it would have a layer of condensation at the bottom of the jar. by the afternoon it would disperse in the jar but for an hour or two a day the bottom nugs sat in extreme humidity for a while which led to mold.

That's powder mildew. Yeah, the buds were too wet in the jars. From now on, I'm going to ensure my buds are almost bone dry before jarring.

u should dump the rest of the buds in some water and do a 7 day watercute. that should kills the rest of the mold and prevent it from spreading

thank you guys. mold for sure it was. :D
motaco, i think you may have hit the nail on the head. as here the temperatures change a lot throughout the day as well as humidity. now i keep my eye vigilant on them jars. cigar boxes keep them good too and seem to not let mold grow as easily as in glass. much peace and thanks again.
