Why Do the US CDC Own a Patent on Ebola “Invention?”

Swine Flue part 2; Ebola! check it out, these crazy mofo's are already planning to make billions on a ebola vaccine. but worse it sounds very much like they are also patenting methods to infect, i.e. biological war fare. sick shit! the crazy thing is that many western countries have now said that they will repatriate any sick aid workers, as we owe it to them, bla bla, lol. truth is, we want that fucking ebola strain in our vaults, so our pharma companies can be the ones to profit and if a few risks apply, the potential profit seems to outweigh them.

Why Do the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Own a Patent on Ebola “Invention?”

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control owns a patent on a particular strain of Ebola known as “EboBun.” It’s patent No. CA2741523A1 and it was awarded in 2010. You can view it here. (Thanks to Natural News readers who found this and brought it to our attention.)

Patent applicants are clearly described on the patent as including:

The Government Of The United States Of America As Represented By The Secretary, Department Of Health & Human Services, Center For Disease Control.

The patent summary says, “The invention provides the isolated human Ebola (hEbola) viruses denoted as Bundibugyo (EboBun) deposited with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”; Atlanta, Georgia, United States of America) on November 26, 2007 and accorded an accession number 200706291.”

It goes on to state, “The present invention is based upon the isolation and identification of a new human Ebola virus species, EboBun. EboBun was isolated from the patients suffering from hemorrhagic fever in a recent outbreak in Uganda.”

It’s worth noting, by the way, that EboBun is not the same variant currently believed to be circulating in West Africa. Clearly, the CDC needs to expand its patent portfolio to include more strains, and that may very well be why American Ebola victims have been brought to the United States in the first place. Read more below and decide for yourself…

Harvesting Ebola from victims to file patents

From the patent description on the EboBun virus, we know that the U.S. government:

1) Extracts Ebola viruses from patients.

2) Claims to have “invented” that virus.

3) Files for monopoly patent protection on the virus.

To understand why this is happening, you have to first understand what a patent really is and why it exists. A patent is a government-enforced monopoly that is exclusively granted to persons or organizations. It allows that person or organization to exclusively profit from the “invention” or deny others the ability to exploit the invention for their own profit.

It brings up the obvious question here: Why would the U.S. government claim to have “invented” Ebola and then claim an exclusively monopoly over its ownership?

U.S. Government claims exclusive ownership over its “invention” of Ebola

The “SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION” section of the patent document also clearly claims that the U.S. government is claiming “ownership” over all Ebola viruses that share as little as 70% similarity with the Ebola it “invented”:

…invention relates to the isolated EboBun virus that morphologically and phylogenetically relates to known members filoviridae… In another aspect, the invention provides an isolated hEbola EboBun virus comprising a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleotide sequence selected from the group consisting of: a) a nucleotide sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1; b) a nucleotide sequence that hybridizes to the sequence set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1 under stringent conditions; and c) a nucleotide sequence that has at least 70%, 75%, 80%, 85%, 90%, 95%, 96%, 97%, 98%, or 99% identity to the SEQ ID NO:

1. In another aspect, the invention provides the complete genomic sequence of the hEbola virus EboBun.

Ebola vaccines and propagation

The CDC patent goes on to explain it specifically claims patent protection on a method for propagating the Ebola virus in host cells as well as treating infected hosts with vaccines:

In another aspect, the invention provides a method for propagating the hEbola virus in host cells comprising infecting the host cells with the inventive isolated hEbola virus described above, culturing the host cells to allow the virus to multiply, and harvesting the resulting virions.

In another aspect, the invention provides vaccine preparations, comprising the inventive hEbola virus, including recombinant and chimeric forms of the virus, nucleic acid molecules comprised by the virus, or protein subunits of the virus. The invention also provides a vaccine formulation comprising a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of the inventive hEbola virus described above, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

No medical reason to bring Ebola to the United States

This patent may help explain why Ebola victims are being transported to the United States and put under the medical authority of the CDC. These patients are carrying valuable intellectual property assets in the form of Ebola variants, and the Centers for Disease Control clearly desires to expand its patent portfolio by harvesting, studying and potentially patenting new strains or variants.

Dr. Bob Arnot, an infectious disease specialist who spent time on the ground in developing nations saving lives, recently told Judge Jeanine, “There is no medical reason to bring them here, especially when you see how well Dr. Bradley was.” (2)

There is, however, an entirely different reason to bring Ebola patients to America: so they can be exploited for medical experiments, military bioweapons harvesting or intellectual property claims.

Surely, medical authorities at Emory University and the CDC are working hard to save the lives of the two patients who have been transported to the U.S. But they are also pursuing something else at the same time: an agenda of isolating, identifying and patenting infectious disease agents for reasons that we can only imagine.

Only hoping to save lives?

On one hand, it’s worth pointing out that the CDC’s patent on Ebola is at least partially focused on methods for screening for Ebola and treating Ebola victims with drugs or vaccines. This seems like a worthwhile precaution against an infectious disease that clearly threatens lives.

On the other hand, why the patent? Patenting Ebola seems as odd as trying to patent cancer or diabetes. Why would a government organization claim to have “invented” this infectious disease and then claim a monopoly over its exploitation for commercial use?

Does the CDC hope to collect a royalty on Ebola vaccines? Is it looking to “invent” more variants and patent those too?

Make no mistake that billions of dollars in profits are at stake in all this. Shares of Tekmira surged over 11% last Friday as pressure was placed on the FDA to fast-track Ebola vaccine trials the company has set up. “Health campaigners have started a petition which has already been signed by approximately 15,500 people on change.org pressurizing FDA to approve the drug in the minimum possible time frame,” reports BidnessEtc.com. (3)

Carefully scripted medical theater

With this, we start to see the structure of the elaborate medical theater coming together: A global pandemic panic, a government patent, the importation of Ebola into a major U.S. city, an experimental vaccine, the rise of a little-known pharmaceutical company and a public outcry for the FDA to fast-track the vaccine.

If Act II stays on course, this medical theater might someday involve a “laboratory accident” in a U.S. lab, the “escape” of Ebola into the population, and a mandatory nationwide Ebola vaccination campaign that enriches Tekmira and its investors while positioning the CDC with its virus patents as the “savior of the American people.”

Yes, we’ve heard this music before, but the last time around it was called Swine Flu.

The formula is always the same: create alarm, bring a vaccine to market, then scare governments into buying billions of dollars worth of vaccines they don’t need.

Interesting to read... but I personally have reached overload on conspiracy theories.

I know there is some merit to investigative reporting, but these days there is so much going on I think it all comes back to the basics.

The basic question is how did mankind's propensity for greed and controlling others lead to this moral dilemma?

I think it all started when the basics underlying our society were stripped away in the mad rush to embrace technology. This has led to an unsustainably high standard of living for those in the 'First World.'

From Wikipedia:
The Three Worlds Theory (simplified Chinese: 三个世界的理论; traditional Chinese: 三個世界的理論; pinyin: Sān gè Shìjiè de Lǐlùn), developed by Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong, posited that international relations comprise three politico–economic worlds: the first world consisting of superpowers, the second world of lesser powers, and the third world of exploited nations.

Notably, Chairman Mao included the US and the Soviet Union in the First World group of countries. In 1974, then Chinese Vice-Premier Deng Xiaoping explained the Three Worlds Theory in a speech to the United Nations, justifying China's cooperation with non-communist countries.[citation needed]

The Three Worlds Theory developed by Mao Zedong should not be confused with the Western theory of the Three Worlds which states that the First World comprise the West, the Second World the Soviet Union and its allies, and the Third World the neutral and nonaligned countries. Mao's division of the worlds highlighted what he considered to be the patterns of exploitation rather than diplomacy or formal ideology.

I'll be the first to say this might be an incomplete answer, but the thread starter wants to discuss this subject :)

"I personally have reached overload on conspiracy theory..." no shit, me too. rampant speculation combined with distrust of anything that does not agree with ones preconceived notions. "if the preponderance of evidence does not agree with me, then it is wrong" seems to be the "call of the wild" these days. those that admire Russia will swallow anything that points away from them, and point gleefully at "news sources" that would strain any sane persons sensibilities. those from the west KNOW that their governments cannot be trusted to always tell the truth, and we take it with a bit of salt & follow the CIAs advice "trust, but verify". those that dream of a "Greater Russia" deny anything that makes that country look bad, and will NEVER admit that they might have done something shady. they are a lot like the old "yellow dog" democrats from the US in that regard. they would vote for a "yellow dog" before electing a qualified Republican instead.:tiphat:

i don't think this is a theory, conspiracy or otherwise as it can be looked up in the patent records, lol.

as for what this has to do with Russia, i have no idea, lmao. but thanks for sharing.

the patent is real, the rest is classical conspiracy theory. you are right, I just saw his line on "overload on conspiracy theory" & freestyled from there. from now on I promise to NEVER post on a thread predominantly occupied by conspiracy freaks. :tiphat:

i don't understand the justification for the word conspiracy here. seems to me this is a question, it's not a statement beyond the fact that this patent seems to exist. this begs the question why? how is that justified? one wants to know...

i would further suggest that the way you are using the word conspiracy theorist is insulting, for the simple reason that this is not a theory, it's a fact. where they speculate they make it clear they are guessing.

conspiracy is when a lack of knowledge is replaced by assumptions based on fear.....jmo

to answer you question why the CDC owns a patent on Ebloa would be to find a vaccine as well as methods to produce the vaccine.

of course any nasty virus can be weaponized but why jump to that conclusion.

EDIT: info from the American Society of Microbiology regarding ebola vaccinations and the need for them to be developed.

In most industries, things are patented the moment someone thinks of them, not after they have actually implemented them.
Patents are there just in case.

always great to hear from you GreenLung, you are always such a pleasant person to talk with. thanks for sharing your opinion.

before it was Russian propaganda and now it's Alex Jones, you can not imagine that it's just my curiosity. i find we on this site can normally collectively find answers to most questions, sooner or later someone comes along and explains every thing so well and clearly that the majority are forced to accept that the answer has been found. this is my motivation behind posting this, i'm not telling you what to believe or how things are, but i am wondering about the fact that Ebola virus was patented. even if it's just for money what kind of moral decision is that for a gov to take? let them all die as long as we can make a fortune or what? we know about pharma companies doing this but why the cdc? not my fault if you have no thinking apparatus of your own that makes you wonder about such things.

i can fully understand patenting a vaccine against ebola, but why patent the virus it's self?

also it says they patent methods of dispersal, thats what i don't get. vaccines have always been patented to make money, but when the actual disease is patented, i wonder why? don't you?

actually a conspiracy only involves aslittle as 2 people getting together to plan to break the law for their own benefit.

call it a conspiracy if you want, i didn't go that far, lol.

my only real question is why would you patent the virus instead of the vaccine against the virus? now they did guess in the article what could be the reason, but every reader understands that they are searching for explanations, they are not saying this is the only explanation.

maybe the question should be...Is patenting ebola necessary to develop a vaccination that works across the 5 known species of ebola?

the problem i have with the article is their assumptions indicating an inside job on how an outbreak may play out.

i feel its more likely an enemy of the U.S.A. that will look to weaponize deadly viruses only to release them on the public so wouldnt it be smart for the us gov to attempt to create a vaccine that is effective on multiple species of ebola.

can you show where this is stated and not from the article. id prefer to see source info so i can digest it and form my own opinion as to its meaning.

not trying to be combative, just want to understand a few things.

if you follow the link you get to a page with active links, leading to some sources.

good point about the patent maybe being a step in the vaccine production. i just never heard about them patenting this kind of stuff. this makes you think they will be able to decide who gets to work with the ebola to make any potential vaccine?

just seems morally a slippery slope, i'm not even sure i approve of patents on vaccines for these kind of viruses. let alone patents on the actual viruses. would be nice if we did some things for the general good, rather for the profit motive. i mean thinking about profiting from something like this seems rather reprehensible imo.

i totally agree but w/o a way to justify the expense to develop vaccines, or any worthwhile technology, who is going to step up and fund it.

i guess there are not enough people like Elon Musk who put the good of the people before his own monetary gain.
