over the years ive bought intermatic timers that i still cant figure out how to program.they come with a crazy set of instructions.one page folds out to 6.micro print.

and i know how to read.

the new one is a honeywell timer built into my powerbox controller.this time only a half page of instructions.still cant figure it out.micro digital read out.

luckly i plan to hook the trigger cord to a sentinal hd-2 timer, high temp shut off, ect.i can actually promgram it.just cost 120.00.

intermatic and honeywell need to have a youtube video that give programming instructions.it would help.

Because they do

Because they do

I've never owned a digital timer and never will. The hot water heater style mechanical timers run my grows. The little plug=in timers with the little red and green removable clips control smaller parts of my grow.No need for digital. My favorite timer is the WH 40 because it has an external on off lever

The digital timers are good for applications that have a relay or contactor. They can be a bit confusing but you'll get it.

those shits are expensive though $50. can you recommend a $25 one ive been having problems with the hydrofarm ones

What did I tell you? You cant possibly be running each of your 1Ks on hydrofarm timers? Holyshit!

what do you do if you need to turn on a pump or something for 3 minutes? arent those for 15 min cycles?

Try www.ehow.com/

You reminded me of the Texas Instruments/Casios watches and trying to figure out the algorithm pattern to make the silver button work.

What I find confusing is the instructions for House & Garden

I've never had problems with the hydro shop digital timers... or the identical ones you can get from harbor freight. I've been using around 6 or so over the years and never a hiccup so long as you don't accidentally turn on "random mode".

Easy to set.

I do not normally put heavy light load on them however.. just for flipping relays, pumps, fans, etc.

These kind. $12 harbor freight.

Thats how I use mine. You would for sure burn the thing eventually if youre trying to run 1000W through it though. They get fairly warm just showing the time...

dont listen to this guy those timers are meant to handle 15 amps just make sure you only use it for 1 thousand watt light not 2. if they fall its for other reasons, ive had 2 of those same ones fall when i was using them for ebb n flow pumps. the couple im using for 1000 watt lights havent failed yet. im currently looking for another brand though that never fails

im currently trying to choose between these i dont know if you guys know anything about them

dont listen to this dangerous clown! he cant tell the difference between a water line and an electrical line while hes trying to install 220V 30A power himself!(see below for proof!)
read all about the meltdowns with these timers in other threads here on IC. Thats why everyone else is saying not to use them for heavy loads, only when used to trigger a contactor. Of course tree jester doesnt know what a contactor is and hes never heard of a relay. This dipshit tree jester runs his 1000W and AC off the same circuit with extension cords, after having them fail and melt on him previously, he continues to test his luck!
Dont believe me?

Description
Additional Features
15 amps

Automating your lights, an essential function in all hydroponic systems, is easy with the Hydrofarm 7 Day Dual Outlet Digital Timer. Designed with a one minute on/off and up to eight on/offs per day, this timer also allows you to time different days and cycles. Controlling two outlets simultaneously, the timer runs on 15 amps.

Thats funny but the harbor freight version doesnt say all that shit about your lights and hydroponic BS. That hydrofarm shit is just repackaged and marketed to idiots like you. You paid twice as much for the hydro buzzwords and their logo. Trust me, do your research before you try me again. Why do you think everyone else is mentioning they wouldnt run a heavy load through them? They get hot and burn. People come home to melting plastic!
The fucking thread is called "all digi timers suck" and youre trusting your life and neighbors lives to timers that keep failing on you! FUCK YOU! Wake up! Its not everybody else that is wrong! You just dont get it?
Its rated for 15A but you dont want a constant load on these cheap pos. Thats why you want a light controller with a contactor relay and thats why they keep failing on you!!!!
Now do you see why people tell you to shut down! You dont know shit from shit and youre dangerous!
Dont listen to that jerkoff in any thread on any one of the forums he spreads his epic failures across! Fuck him!
