Why are my flowering plants producing seeds?

Hello. This is a big question for me. I have found bananas and seeds in my flowers before but it was caused by a light leak. Since that time I have light proofed the room plus the plants are grown in tents. So it's definitely not a leak. My ballasts sometimes do not start on time, but they turn on within 15 minutes. So I don't know if the 15 minute delay would cause the hermaphroditism. I have also considered bad genetics as the cause, but I am only using non-feminized seeds from a well known breeder. Thanks.

Some genetics are more finicky than others in regards to light times.

If it were me and this was happening I would either switch strains or eliminate the 15 minute variable.

a lot of well known breeders have gear with hermie tendancies... yeehaw.. I should know I have had my share over the years..i wont be naming names tho..strains that herm easily get culled in my gardens...peeps are pumping out seeds without removing the herms from the line as its not always easy to do..maybe impossible with some strains....very few strains resist turning herm with enough stresses...

Well this morning I checkd all my plants. I looked at the plant that produced the seed. 2 or 3 of the lower branches were broken but had healed. On or around those branches were 3 very small male flowers. I checked the other plants in the room and they looked ok. So maybe it was from the broken branches. this being my first photo grow, looks like I'll be going through strains for a while. Now I've been going through this hermaphroditism since December. And around the herm plants I have grown cr+ and AK. Neither of these plants produced a male flower. But anyways I added 12/12 timers and I'll watch the strains.

i'm a big believer in dutchmaster's reverse. all i grow are hermie prone polyhybrids and i never had more then 2-3 phantom seeds from a 12 plant room. great stuff if used as directed
