Who's Purple Wreck would you run?

Both Reserva Privada and Humboldt Seed Organization both offer a Purple Wreck. Both of them use some intriguing genetics. HSO has purple wreck which is a Trainwreck X Mendocino Purple. RP's version is Trainwreck X Purple Urkle. I can't decide which one I want but I tried some Purple Trainwreck and really liked it but had no idea where it came from. Would love to hear from anybody with Purple Trainwreck experience. I'm looking for something colorful, with a soaring high and little stretch. Which PH would you pop? Gotta be some PH fans out there so don't be shy and let's hear the good, the bad, and hopefully no ugly IC!

Alrighty then.

Reserva Privada: I have not ran this before, so I have no input.

HSO: I grew out a bunch of freebies from the Tude, and Purple Trainwreck was one of them ( I finished the grow Oct 31st, and just smoked a nice bowl of it) . I've grown out I believe about 9 different HSO strains, and none of them have been "elite" so to speak. They weren't "bad" by any means, but they always lacked in one of the major categories for me (taste, smell, and frost).

I can tell you however, that the Purple Trainwreck from HSO is INCREDIBELY FROSTY. The high is absolutely excellent. The flavor isn't bad, slightly perfume and fruit. Not purple at all, but I grew it in the summer...I imagine a slightly cooler temp would have let the purp colors come out. All that being said I actually just reordered it based on the frost alone. I figure if I can get a phenol with a bit more flavor I'll have something quite special. I would recommend the HSO,,it's not perfect, but my sample was worthy of space in any growroom.

Hope this helps.

Gage Green have Sugartown Express which is the Purple Wreck clone x Joseph OG in case you're looking for seeds made with the actual cut.

Anyone know what's the genetic make up of the Purple Wreck clone? Or is it just a pheno of the original TW that turns purple?

I would grow the Privada, because I'm curious about it. Thanks for mentioning it !

I got a freebie of the HSO TW from the 'tude.

I have to say, I really liked it ! Very Indica growth pattern, while the buds themselves had a Sativa structure - LOADS of Pistils, and continuing to grow into Week 11.

Decent resin on that one sample.

more description of the Privada PW -

"Reserva Privada Purple Wreck was created by crossing Urkel with the Train Wreck to improve the vigor of the notoriously slow growing Urkel."

It's the Deion Sanders answer. BOTH ! :woohoo:

I have grown HSO's trainwreck and purple trainwreck. Last year was their trainwreck outdoors, this year it was the purple trainwreck outdoors. The trainwreck went full on purple, and was decent smoke. The purple trainwreck stayed green, but was a better overall high and better appearance. Also grew trainwreck from GHS. GHS's TW purple's some(due to cold), but makes super small nugs. Second time I've grown that one from seed and it was almost identical to the first seed I popped of it.

Done both.

RP's Purple Trainwrecks were uniform in a sense it hermied from the same spot on the plant, fourth node down from the top of every single plant. It was a thick clusters of male flowers. Massive seeded plants. It was a slow veger and a low yielder. 8 weeks of veg and finished flowering at about 20 inches. Was tempted to cull it due such slow veg. All plants were extreme purple with nice sweet aroma. It was the first strain of Reserva Privada tried and the last. Seeds were obtained from the Boutique. Should have taken into consideration of all the reports of hermie with this strain.

The HSO's PW were much better, more vigor and no hermies. It was also a low yielder but only half the veg time of RP's PW. The plants had more frost and better aroma. It was also extreme purple color with better potency and flavor.

I grew the RP purple wreck and it was a beauty. I had two very similar phenos that leaned on the TW side. They were vigorous, tasty frost monsters that packed a punch. These were old regular beans though from 2009.

I did get the odd nanner pop up but nothing that I couldnt pick off and carry on with. She was a real beauty. I still have half the pack of seeds too and I hope it holds something like the ones I had.

Heres another dry shot.

What BMac has pictured is EXACTLY the PW I grew out from HSO..I guess we can all agree its a pretty darn consistent and descent strain from HSO.

As with the poster said above, the one issue you can have from RP is that you can get some funky plants in their strain lineup. I grew out Kosher Kush and was very disappointed. Holy Grail Kush was descent, however.

Its kind of hit and miss too. Its wrong IMO to say a strain sucks because one didnt get a keeper pheno in a handful of seeds. Some breeders out there will land you a keeper or two out of a 10 pack, some you would need to dig through 100 beans to find a keeper and so on.

Im on the side of the fence where I want to find a keeper out of a pack of seeds. I work hard for my money and can only afford a pack or two here and there. I like variety so its not really in my budget to buy 5-10 packs per strain to dig through.

The RP purple wreck did just that. I grew 6-7 beans, ended up with 2 very similar females that were both keepers IMO so I Was very pleased and still have half the pack to dig through eventually.

Both of the ones I had were quite strong, nice flavor and depending on your tolerance, were still functional. I shared with a couple of light weights and it pinned them to the couch. If I smoked a bit too much, it would do the same to me but half a J to my head was the sweet spot.

I've only grown RP's Purple Wreck, so I will share my experience with that strain...

Smoke: extremely berry flavor, didn't look frosty at all, but under a microscope and pretty solid coverage of THC. The pheno I got was pretty fucking quick. Like 7 weeks max. it lacked in high, it was very mellow... but fuckin a did it taste good. really decent getting through the day kind of smoke.

Looks like a much more Urkle dominant pheno. Mine went 9 weeks and were viney and very trainwreckish.

Reserva Privada Purple Wreck circa 2008....I've ran other beans from them more recently and haven't found anything nearly as good. This one's a staple in my garden. Good luck with the pheno hunt.
