who uses PROMIX BX??

Yes used it for several years prior to goin, water..It is a good reliable product..It is the biggest seller in the area where I live.....

I have used it since I first started growing and continue to use it to this day. Either the BX or the HP. I know one of those has more perlite, but I can't remember which one. I use it a lot of the time just by itself. It is PH buffered and I find I don't even have to check my PH when using it. Sometimes I add 2 table spoons of dolomite lime per gallon of promix, but it depends on my strain at the time. You can add some more perlite, but I think just the way it is should be fine. After a few grows you can tailor it to the way you think works best for you. Experimentaion is a good thing if you got the time to do it. Hope this helps and good luck!

Hey TGT - The idea of not adjusting my nutes to pH 6.3 before pouring baffles me. What nutes were you using that you didn't need to adjust pH?

Promix is a great peat based soilless medium.

all a matter of personal opinion whether to build your own soil or feed from above.
promix is my favourite because its fairly inate (non organic wetting agent added to all promix but doesnt really affect anything), ph buffered, sterile, light medium.

I prefer 6 parts of ProMix, 3 parts perlite, 1 part worm castings.

it allows me to control the nutrients i feed by hand, the wormcastings are great source of non burning Nitrogen and trace elements that help the benificial bacteria
that work with the roots.

dont forget to moisten promix with a light watering before use.

I use and love Pro-Mix BX. I used to mix my own (mixed like random + kelp meal) and use Fox Farm nutes. Now I use it alone with GH Flora series nutes and maybe some dolomite. My last bale said it contains Mycorise, which must be a brand name of beneficial fungi and bacteria?

yea i went 2 my local nursery and asked they didnt have it so im probley gonna order it from the internet ,its either promix bx or hp,or umm bcuzz special mix which i believe is the same as promix i used fox farm ocean forest b4 out doors a few years ago and i waznt really inpresed with it never going back 2 fox farm i knoe alotta peoples use it and thats fine thoes

Wow bro mail ordering Promix by the bail with the unreal cost of shipping these days could get real expensive real quick.Id go with any locally sold peat based medium.If they got the regular pro mix in the black bails thatd do just fine,then just add a little extree perlite some worm casts maybe a little guano and perhaps some lime and youll be stylin.Making yer own mix is not only fun but it can be super rewarding,youll see!!Just remember put yer back into it!!He he!!

I don't bother checking PH anymore because it is always within an acceptable margin. I don't know if it's just a good combo the nutes, Promix and water that I use, or if it had to do with just 1 of those. I know for a fact my water is PH 6.8 to begin with. At first it is a little high, but after a week it levels off. It seems to go perfect when I add the bud nutes. The nutrients I use are 'Total Nutrition'. I think it is only sold at this one Hydro shop here in town. Everyone here usues it and have been using it for years. I love it and it is all that I use.

i second the 'make your own mix' if none s available. you can get bags or bales of peat pretty much at any garden store or a large hardware store like lowes. from there just add some perlite, and whatever other amendments you want. It still usually ends up cheaper than pro-mix or ocean forest, especially when you know you're avoiding the shipping costs

real deal promix can be hard to find but when you find it you can see it's usually a grade higher than most peats you can find locally and the ratios are well balanced so it's close but not exactly like mixing your own.

I like hp over bx but both are good. In states other than cali it now comes with bacillus subtilus which is a good pythium barrier bacteria.

Promix BX is very good. I use 50% promix, 25% perlite, 25% wormcastings w/a little Dolmite.

I swear by Promix. I have used the BX many of times with great results. Have to add more perlite than with the HP, but both produce stellar results. Many times I just didn't have the time to get to the place that sells the promix so I just went to Home Depot and grabbed some Lambert's potting mix. Pretty much the same thing, just no myco added. I personally don't think you can go wrong with either of these in combination with a good nute schedule. For me, it doesn't get any easier than Flora Nova and Promix.

Pro Mix is outstanding I have been using it for years, The BX is more of a basic mix with less perlite than the HP; I believe that all pro mix comes with Mycorise fungi now, the HP is also much lighter than the BX and encourages more explosive growth, I have done side by side experiments with the two and HP seriously out performs the BX because of the ratios. It shouldnt be that hard to find Pro Mix in your area it is used by ALOT of quality nurseries for their finer plants so more than likely there is one or two wholesale distributors in your area just go to the Pro Mix homepage and it has a distributor locator by zip code and product so good luck

Promix is a professional Horticulture green house growing medium, and it is use in the spring to grow annuals and perineals. It comes in bulk so if you going to use as growing medium it would be best to sex the plants and then do your thining and what cutting you wish to clone from thining the plants, root them well and then use the Promix to grow the clones.
