"Commercial" pot, was 10 bucks an ounce. Columbian Gold and Oaxacan were 45 bucks. We mostly bought "Lids". Mexican weed was $100 a pound.

In the DC area by 77 ounces of mexican were 20 bucks, and the columbian was running at 35 an ounce.
I guess the price structure in the city was different. I lived in the suburbs and the prices remained the same for ages.
Worked in the city, and was always having people there asking about it, and offering higher prices than I was used to.

I find that tracking the Gold-Gold price ratio is interesting.

In the early 90's, Mendo Gold might sell for $240 an ounce - and that was a truly brotherly price.

At the same time, Metallic gold was about $350 an ounce. The retail price was actually closer to $350.

So the Gold-Gold ratio was about 1:1.

Now, Metal Gold is $1300 an ounce.

Haven't been to Mendo for a while but I would estimate prices in Sonoma county at about $30 an 1/8 for QUALITY A+++. $240 an ounce.

So the Gold-Gold ratio is about 5:1.

In any case, Cannabis Gold buys a lot less Metallic Gold these days.

Was there ever a time when the ratio was less than one ? Actually, I think around the year 2000, Metal Gold declined to about $200, when Cannabis was still $300.

So the Gold Metal - Cannabis Gold price ratio was 2:3.

77 I had some of the best chocolate tasting Colombian you ever saw. By 1979 there was gold that looked almost like cornflakes. Then I was on vacation so to speak and when I returned from vacation everybody seemed to be starting to drop like flies from cocaine

I had guys from California willing to pay big bucks for quantities and it was all being run thru middles who were from Texass

I certainly recall Oaxacan . . . Gold and just straight up. And Columbian. I split a pound with a friend, $150# I think. In a fog for quite a while. It was called "Wahican" . . . For we hadn't a clue! Panama Red
Would leave you really messed up man . Ever hear of Meshmacon? North central Mexican sat viva. . . Very nice psychedelic

i remember.

Gold bud was the grail, 50 bucks an ounce in the NE, 1978.

Thai bud was almost unheard of, except the sticks, which no one
in my small circle thought credible.

Lots of mexi bricks, a skunk once in a while.

Hawaiian bud was the go to in the early 80's in my neck of the woods.

Here's a thunk I flower:

Rock hard buds, nah.

in 81 4 of us smoked 1/2 a joint of thai stick and went for pizza. i couldnt lift my head off the table to eat. in 83 had some Hawaiian[that unique light green] that knocked my dick in the dirt also. other than those 2, everything else i remember had lots of seeds.

Can recall seeing the odd brick of something that seemed different and running across real nice Jamaican from time to time.
When I look back on it, what amazes me , was that damn near everything done locally was done off of a handshake and a front.
