i havent been looking for spots yet but it's about that time. im deffinetly not using that spot again. but i do have one safe spot i can use again. im very anxious for spring

Guys..smOke has this site..and as the canna grows the surrounding vegetation does..and it ends up looking like one of those magic eye pictures. It is one of the best "hidden" outdoor sites I have seen.

It was...but now it is flaming nithering..
We were upstairs at midnight last night..tying things down.

Yeah Mossy you guys have been having some killer winds over there. We have been getting tons of snow here, blizzards within a few days of each other so the snow just keeps stacking up.

I STILL haven't figured out what it is doing..the only plants that I have seen do this.."self-watering" kind of thing are tropical plants..
I haven't had a canna that does it before.

HK..Meaty...what about width..
mine are only 4 inches..4/5 leaf nodes...
but they have a hell of a spread...

I had to transplant 2 today..they were both battling it out in a 6 inch pot..
I mixed the bottom half of the pot with a compo/guano mix..added an inch layer of plain compost on top..then potted around the transplant with plain compost.
When the roots are ready to go..they have food below.
I did say that they were heavy feeders didn't I...otherwise it would be classed as cheating..wouldn't it..

HK..the Indy that I think is a male has started to colour up..when I looked this morning..I thought it had little BLACK beetles in it..
upon closer inspection..underside..you can see it is dark purple.
Either way..it is going to look odd on a pea-green plant...

Your misfortune could be quite fortuitous though..
I am pretty sure that HK has the maz x lown going..micro too..so you will all have the same "type" going.. I am just not sure if I have..

I have the opposite problem...I am sex-less..everytime I see a sign..it turns into another leaf.
The non-af m x lown are wonderful..2-2.5 ft high..strong..tufty..just the type of plant I like..
Some of them have been in the tent over 2 weeks..and not a flaming sign..
I can SMELL them trying..mind..I wouldn't get my bits out in this weather either..
smOke..I have an anomoly..when I was checking the indy yesterday..I noticed that it just has the 2 extra leaves on it..instead of the 4..opposite corners..if you get me.. asymetrical

Nice shots there, Mossy! I've seen my girls do that before. It may have something to do with pores at the ends of each main vein in the leaf. Moisture in the leaf may draw the morning dew to those areas from water cohering to itself.

Maybe the little serrations are a little cooler than the rest of the leaf since they are more exposed, that would let draw moisture out of the air more....
