genes are very important...but if the grower has no skill...and no knowledge...no genes can make miracles on their own.

Nice shootin mossy! The girls sure look happy. Proof that the caveman transplanting technique works just fine.

A shot from this summer when i used the hand scoop to transplant these North Jams.

I also believe that genetics are important. Growing skills are needed also.
Mossy I use the bio bizz line. Root juice, bio grow, bio bloom, and topmax.

At the minute HK..I am using that canna fert I bought earlier in the year..I will get the name when I go upstairs.
BUT..I have someone in the UK trying to get me a comfrey root..if I get that..I will try growing my own..and make fert teas.

That is one of the ones that I can buy from the local garden centre..
This is the vigorizador. I have never used this before..but with the drop in night temps..I am going to try it on a couple in the tent..

smOke..do you have nettles in the US?
Nettles make damn good ferts..just added to water..and left to infuse..
saves buying ferts.

how long should the nettles be left in the water? i'm thinking "Gantz's Organic 2007 Bud" :D

a couple of weeks Gantz...they make excellent ferts...
same with the comfrey (herb).....sheep poop..rabbit poop..dirty water from a cold water fish tank..
peeing near your plants deters animals.
Ordinary washing-up liquid..in V small amounts..cures most aphid attacks..
Things can be as natural as you want to make them..plus..they work.
What I haven't done..is test a natural fert against a bought one..but if I get the root off the comfrey..I will test.
I cannot see the point of paying for anything that I can get for free..if it works...
BeAn..from what I can remember..nettles are mega boost of nitrogen and iron?..but I would need to look it up to be certain...
what I do know is that it is a very Universal good fert..

thanks a lot...i'll try it.
so teas made from herbivore poop will work? no composting required?
peeing directly on my plants...now that's something i'll never do. but after some icmag lurking it seems that a 1:10 pee and water mix will work just fine...that i might do :D...i always wanted to give my plants something...personal :D

take an old pillow case then fill it with crap. tie a knot in the case then soak it in a 5 gallon bucket for probably a day

I wouldnt suggest peeing on your plants unless you need nitrogen so bad and you dont have any guano/manure/castings or poop in general.. urine contains amonia which shouldnt be so good for them..

I will edit to peeing "near" your plants as an animal deterent..
smOke in the UK..I used to fill up buckets..cover them..and just leave 'til I needed it..but it is not so practical on a patio..some herbal teas smell more like manure than manure does..
I might be getting a bit of land..
just to grow vegetables and Normal herbs...boo..
so I am hoping to grow the comfrey and make the ferts down there..
down-wind..:D :D :D
Gantz..I do not know if they are available to you..
but we used to get the orange nylon onion sacks..
stuff the sheep poop into them and suspend in the water..as long as you can..then just lift whole thing out..and you are left with liquid fert..

do nettle infusions need aeration or can i use a plastic drum, close it and forget about it for some time?

I have never used nettles like that..but overtime they are going to compost down whatever they are in.
Comfrey makes excellent soil conditioner if composted down.
Someone correct me if I am wrong..but don't compostedbanana skins have high potassium..flower ferts? :chin:
I will have to consult the Oracle..
(me Mother..how embarassing is that..)
BeAn..if you have a patch..one of the best things that you can do is grow BEANS... :D :D :D or peas..
Once you harvest..dig the plant back into the ground.
Farmers used to do this to fix nitrogen into the soil..between crops..

Gantz..loose lid..they produce gas..apart from that just leave to stand..
oh..and I have asked for the comfrey root..'cause if I can get it and get it to grow here..that is what I will be feeding my 2007 olympics plant on..that is how much I trust it..
It is my secret weapon... :bis: ooops..not so secret now..
