Who out there changes their res every week?

From what I have read getting ready for my first hydro grow it seems most people either change once at the switch from flower to bloom or they change it every two weeks which is what I am doing.

I change out my nutrient solution 1 time when switching from veg to bloom then zero times during flower. Using a float valve my system continually adds RO water and as the PPMs drop I add back nutrients and ph once a week. With approximately 70 gallons of nutrient solution it would be too expensive for me to change out every week

I'll change out the res 1-2 in a 20+ week grow but, I'm doing single plants in an 18 gallon tub.

My total res volume is about 550 litres in a recirculating system for six plants. I change it once about 2 weeks after 12/12 when the first buds start to show and once again after about a month. I don't flush.

Atami wilma 10 pot, 70ltrs recirculating.

Canna A+B, change every 7days,or whenever ive added back 70ltrs of water, but never longer than 7days.

I used to leave it at least 14 days, sometimes nearly a month before i would change it.

But a friend questioned me one night, when i was adding fresh nutrient back to my unchanged reservoir, about how i knew what % of each nutrient, my plants had consumed.

"I dont no, All i do is take it back to an E C value of 1.4 and leave them until it drops again." was my reply.

He then gave me a quick rundown on how plants use different quantities of nutrients at different stages of growth, and by just adding back fresh nutes and topping up my old reservoir, did not replace the stock of nutrients that were depleted by the plants.

So i now change my reservoir every 7 days, and i must admit my plants have never looked better.

I change once a week and its a pain in the ass but my plants drink a lot of water so I figure why not spend the extra 10 min to do a full change and add new nutes.. My plants deserve it!

Another reason besides nutes that I do res changes is to clean out my air stones. The girls love a fresh bath and a nice clean bubble.

Yeah I do this too and even give it a clean scrubbing with a wet rag. What I do is I run the hot water in the bath tub let it fill up my res and give it a good quick scrubbing I figure the super hot water will kill and help clean any nasty shit in the res. And so far so good I avoided any problems and now am into day 30 of flower. Yeah you always hear stories of people getting clogged air stones.
