Who knows "Aota"?

was recently up in northern cali, arcata area and picked up a couple of clones from a friend. one was aota and they didn't know much about it. so i was wondering if anyone out there could give some details on the parents which made up this strain and maybe some growing details. the person i picked it up from hasn't flowered it out yet so doesn't know how it'll turn out. also picked up some og kush! this one was from the dispensary in arcata and wondering which cut it is. i got this from my friend as well but they're not sure which cut it is. any info would be great! thanks friends.

When i was up there about a month ago i picked some Aota nugs from i'm assuming the same place. i inquired about the strain and was told Aota Stands for the "All of the above" as the strain was a cross of 7 different sativa's. The favorite Strains of the grower i suppose. The Finished herb was beautiful, there were no single trichomes it seemed as if the nugs had been dipped in glaze like a donut. The taste was excellent reminded me of a mix of NYCD and Cali Mist. I remember the ceiling being very! high with this one.

AOTA does stand for all of the above it was bred in Potter Valley by some tweekers who let pollen fly around among polyhybrid strains with no real idea what is crossing with what hence the name All Of the Above

well it seems like they hit on something though. i googled aota and found some info on a few other sites and everyone pretty much likes it.

I really enjoyed Aota. I'm not so sure about the tweeker story.. seems very un-likely that some tweekers would fuck somthing up and it would turn out that good. I guess it could happen though. Either way, I hope next time i go north to arcata i can find me a cut!.

Rebel you lucky sob! I'm headed up to bay area and mendo at the end of the month (coming from the dirty south), I lived out in santa barbara for a bit last year and I had a buddy from arcata that would always spoil me w/ strains from N Cal.. dude AOTA is great IMO. that and the honeydew are just phenom in taste man. Tha'ts one of the few strains I sincerely crave and it's mainly bc of that acrid spicey melon taste.

As for her lineage, she's from a Humboldt Honeydew mother (which I am also looking for) crossed with a Northern Lights #5 poppa.

You're gonna love the taste on it, it's really unique. It's an acrid sharp melon smell that's rotten in a way kinda like papaya. Under all that rotten sweetness it also has an undertone of a kinda cleaner/spice coming from the Northern Lights.
The buzz is very well rounded IMO and everything you would want in a strain you would enjoy in the afternoon. I thought it had an interesting head high with a good body, really put a smile on my face.
I haven't smoked this strain over periods of time consistently so I couldn't tell ya about the tolerance build up on it but if I had to guess I think I would give it a 6-8/10. Reason why is bc I could see it losing a bit of it's psychedelic/shit eating grin stone after daze of smoking it but keeping the NL body (of course you'd still get the sativa buzz but I just always stress smoking a variation of cannabinoid profiles).

(I'll be honest there really aren't any full 10's in my experience from cannabinoid tolerance build up which is why I encourage smoking a variation of cannabinoid profiles.)

Congrats on those cuts man, I've been looking for that strain for a while. Ever since I tried it I knew it was the sat/indica hybrid for my garden just bc of the well rounded buzz.

Appreciate it, enjoi the smoke

AOTA is awesome. Never did a full run of it to get it dialed in but it's a hungry bitch. Stayed shorter, only doubling in size but was super dumpy and branchy. Branches out of branches... crazy! She'll put off good size nugs all the way down but IME it did better when it was lolly-popped. Loves to be topped. Super strong growing, doesn't slow down and the hairs all turn color at once and she's done. Watch out for mold. She's got a tendency to drop all the hand leaves in late flower for some reason we haven't figured out yet and bud rot comes after that. I think it wants ALOT of Nitrogen

The smell is amazing. Even in veg she stinks. Rub the stem for an early idea of what it'll smell like when it's finished. Dead on. Smells like dead shit.. kinda train wrecky in a way, but still like shit died. haha.. a homie did a fat run of it and searched his house looking for a dead rat or something.. hahha *edit* I also have a Endless Sky seedling growing in the mom room that smells dead on like AOTA.

I don't know about what was said above. I'm in Humboldt and heard the strain was from Santa Cruz. Never heard of NL being in it either but you can sure as shit smell the train wreck. Interesting you didn't mention the smell... that's always the first thing people talk about and IMO the only reason they buy it. Didn't like the smoke, or the high. Could be our style of growing, but if you don't like organic grown bud then I don't think you'd be horribly easy to please ;)

So interesting how the stories change from person to person, town to town, seller to buyer, grower to grower..

Great commercial strain. Reliable, easy to clone, mom gets fat fast, and other than nitrogen, doesn't care about much else. Good luck with it!

The AOTA I had was so distinct I didnt even like it. It seems as if they put something in the jars when curing it its so potent and distinct. Tasted / smelt artificial and synthetic.

I've had it on multiple occasions but I avoid it now

just my opinion..

vaping some aota right now, it's def got some tw in there somewhere, and it's def not a cross of 7 sats(pure or near pure), it has some indica influences that become quite pronounced about 1/2 hour into the high. The smell is crazy, musky tangy trainwrecky fuely baby poop. It made my hack a good bit out of my vape!(herbalaire @340*F) just because of the overwhelming taste coating my throat/mouth. Not quite as potent as you'd expect, but no slouch either. I enjoy it...

well i have about two more weeks until i chop the aota down, and to describe the stank would be citrus, citrus, citrus, with some other undertones. i'll be giving a smoke report when done as well as some pics.

That sounds like the Aota from Norcal that I've had the pleasure of smoking couple times a year since '06.

it's certainly a stinky, resin filled queen. really excited about this one. of note, the og kush i thought i had ended up being bubba kush. it's almost done as well and is looking amazing.

The Aotas distinct taste doesn't remind me of weed when I smoke it so I avoid it at all costs.

Makes me feel like im smoking unflushed weed that has something added to it for the cure lol

It just appeal to me at all.

Alot of what I gather from these posts is not even describing AOTA. I have had this in my collection for years. And its been around for longer then that. The real deal finishes in a good 50 days, some of the easiest bud to trim. Of all the ways I have seen it grown it yields HUGE bud, they are dense, but suprisingly light for the size. It is a stinker, definately smells like old school weed, hints of skunk, musk, dirt, cranberries. It was orginally grown in northeastern humboldt as an outdoor strain and made it to the mainstream and then to the indoor growers. It is really mold resistant and will not take to spider mites or PM. It is not sativa. :2cents: :joint:Smoke

i guess i'll never know. the good thing is that it's looking like a keeper and hope the high is right up there. i can't stop staring at it or the bubba because of the resin content.
