this is very interesting, PIG PEN history sounds good
do you have pictures Pig Pen?
or any extra information about your lines
are both lines sativas?

Sam I was curious, how soon will it be before you pop some of those rks beans? I don't believe I ever had the pleasure of smoking it and would love to see what all the rave is about. Mad respect to you top breeders!

Well, the product cured for a couple weeks, smoke is nice combo of up and thick. Reminds me of long cured thunk. Incense and pepper aroma to boot.

IE, a 98% probability of capturing 99.9555% of genes during an uncontrolled open pollination of 100 plants while assuming a rare allele frequency of 0.05, does not translate to a 2% gene loss per regeneration cycle. -Tom

PigPen should put his next run of seeds up for sale. I'm sure there are a lot of people here who would love to check them out.

These have been in the bottom of my fridge for 10 years now. Just 2 out of maybe 10 I kept from some really good bags I got. This was my first time ever seeing an indica too, I've seen a bunch of sativas but never an indica. I thought it was cool, thats how I ended up here!

I have a number of beans from the 70s and early 80s. I have attempted 8 so far, and one popped. The label on the seed was mean green. It started stinking the good way as the 3rd node was just kicking out lobes. The lobes are nice & fat. I'm 36 hours in germination attempt 2 on some other varieties from this time period: old gold, parrot bud, and a mix bag that was labeled: Red, Emilea, Tri-Glow & Gold.

Anyone's advice on proven methods for germinating seeds of this age would be much appreciated! The seed that popped received a 10 hour soak, and was accidentally popped (literally.. squeezed and popped open) upon removal. It sprouted a root in a damp cloth that was kept warm w/ph'd water.

This recent batch got some h2o2, a 24 hour soak in seaweed/micro/humic tea, and is now on a heat mat in towels. I still have a lot of healthy looking beans. I'm basically going trial and error. If I make it through w/just the mean green, I'm happy. But I would damn sure enjoy seeing some of the other varieties come through, particularly the old gold. There is also one labeled "china breeze" that I'm intrigued about to say the least, the beans are very small... I attempted 5 w/no luck so far.

Perhaps try using hot water to soak in (just bearable to put your hand in) for 24 hours with it in a hot room (eg airing cupboard 35deg)..

Basically I read how the Wimbledon groundsmen germ grass seed...

...started a thread in the DJ forum...got bashed pretty bad for it lol!

But if you don't mind losing some seeds it might be worth a bash?

a buddy of mine found a bag o seeds from his (deceased) father behind a framed photo, dad passed like 10 years before he found them, seed probably more like 15, dunno if he ever sprouted (or tried to at least) any.

Personally I think seeds that are kept more than ten years in regular seasonal change weather are very unlikely to sprout. If kept in a cool basement or better yet, a fridge or freezer there is a much greater chance. But that is why a lot of these found seeds never sprout, because they were not stored properly with being forgot for years. If found in an attic of a house I would say there is no chance as the temeprature extremes are crazy. Just my 2 cents, but who knows, there is always that one in a million.

10-60 years old. just popped um about 5 months ago. I found this Orange flavor type of Cannabis. Reminded me of the old California Orange. But the tric production is insane. and the high is like a kush high. maybe its bubble gum, but i do not have much experience with bubble gum. i have 6 adults right now. each one showing different variation in 4 that have flowered. i threw away one. i revegged the other three. they are revegging just fine.... i still have 3 to find out what these babies will produce. But i am a very hap6py med user. As i love kush high, and i get a very familiar high.

One of the plants. is growing straight up like a stick with short little arms. And one leaf to 3 leaf. looks like what you would think a 100 percent indica would look like. something out of Jurassic park... If anyone is interested i will post some shots.

And i have never had any issues with germing. If the seeds are viable they are viable full moon or not. 90 percent rate usually. And i keep my seeds in the fridge, im sure freezer would work just fine. they can last for years, decades.

This is that crazy looking stalk. Some of the leaves are turning yellow fast. I gave her a good feeding, shes about 3 weeks into flowering. It took her a LONG time to Identify her sex. Even though i already Identified it when she was around a month old. i was able to stop flowering, Twice. Once by bringing it outdoors from a flowering room, second with Light Dep outside when it started to flower, and i noticed a 6 inch jump. the second time, or throughout the HOLE vegging time, she did not shed one Hair to let me know she was female. finally 4 days ago, she shed one hair... and the start of green looking thick hairs that i couldnt tell if they were balls are not at first. untill i saw white pubic looking hair coming out of the two Stiples.
