I bought (2) 1.5 cu ft. of Premium Blend Super Soil today. I wish I had a picture to show. I plan to mix more of the Super Soil with existing durt in the outdoor area, compost, pearlite, etc...

Does anyone have a positive or negative experience to share?
AND
Does it count as organic?

Here is a link, tell me if it works...
http://www.supersoil.com/products/supersoil/premium_planting_mix.shtml

also note, that I am aware that the website says "organic ingridients" but I want to know what the organic community thinks.

Use potting soil.

I have used this brand with excellent results.

I would add a few tablets of micorizzhae and a little bit of dolomitic lime just to enhance the soil and let her rock.

I use Supersoil. Only thing I add is a bit of dolomite lime and a 1/3 perlite. I like it but it is also the only soil I have used. Have had no PH problems and my plants are nice and healthy. For a cheap soil, I have no complaints, though I have nothing to compare it to either. Mytwo cents. Also read somewhere that the wood material in it helps buffer your PH(maybe why my PH stays balanced), don't know, just something I read.

The micorizzhae and dolomitic lime are available at select nurseries. Lime is easier to find. Get the powered lime versus the granuals if possible.

I buy a box of 40 Micorrizhae tablets for $4.50.

Lime is under $5.00 as well.

If your potting soil has dolomitic lime and micorrizhae, then it is probably the best potting soil the place carries.

Thanks a bunch!

Yes, I would not be using Supersoil straight up. I would mix the powdered lime and micorrizhae tablets (whatever those are) to the supersoil. Also the existing soil (natural earth soil) would be mixed. Pearlite (which has already been purchased) will be mixed as well. Thanks guys for your comments.

Hey guys. I found out that store bought soil, like at home depot, can carry insect eggs or larva. I must let everyone know this information has only been told to me. However, this guy is a hydroponic store owner who operates and works the business. He claims to carry a better soil that has had all leaves and debree which provide food for young insects. Does this make sense? He basically said it does not contain all of the "junk" particles.

I plan to dump my supersoil as topsoil. The surrounding dirt will be enriched for next season. Supersoil claims to effect surrounding dirt and share nutrients, etc.

I trust this hydro guy. I don't know exactly what removing the leaves and other material from the soil EXACTLY does, but I trust this guy.

So basically all I REALLY wanted to say was...
I won't be buying supersoil anymore.

Vic High (BCGA) suggests his Super Soil mix:

Original recipe:

1 Bale sunshine mix #2 or promix
2 L Bone Meal - phosphorus source
1L Blood Meal - nitrogen source
1 1/3 cups Epsom salts - magnesium source
3-4 cups dolomite lime -calcium source & pH buffering
1 tsp fritted trace elements
1/2 - 1 bag chicken manure (steer, mushroom, etc) - nitrogen & trace elements
Mix thoroughly, moisten, and let sit 1-2 weeks before use.

Revised recipe - after several failures due to bad manure sources, I now use the following recipe. Results have been excellent and the clones seem to take off right away instead of having a slow growing settling in period.

1 Bale sunshine mix #2 or promix (3.8 cu ft)
8 cups Bone Meal - phosphorus source
4 cups Blood Meal - nitrogen source
1 1/3 cups Epsom salts - magnesium source
3-4 cups dolmite lime -calcium source & pH buffering
1 tsp fritted trace elements
4 cups kelp meal.
9kg (25 lbs) bag pure worm castings

Mix thoroughly, moisten, and let sit 1-2 weeks before use.

Substitutions - The original recipe was a success, but I simply needed to experiment. In addition, sometimes not all ingredients were always available. Therefore, here are some possible additions and/or substitutions. What is an Earth Juice/Maxicrop Recirculating Res?
