WFs can easily be managed by organic methods
you can use neem oil,
or mineral oil-->aka volck oil kills white fly's and eggs.
but you need direct contact and don't exposed to direct sunlight after spraying until everything dries.
insecticidal soap also does the job, direct contact needed, but doesn't kill eggs.
if your going into flower you need to take care of the prob now
From a health perspective I cant answer that. I used to think aza, n neem products were ok in flower, but im not so sure anymore. But from just consuming buds n tasting it, id say I wouldn't use anything to spray on a plant that has buds on it.
I honestly have never battled white flies oddly enough, since ive had every other kind of pest. But being a super easy to kill fly, u can always do area sprays to wipe out visible adults. find out where they lay there babies, n maybe spray the leaf, if that's where the eggs are. or maybe a soil surface spray if they are there. Fly traps will help. room misters with pyrethrin aerosol cans work well. Id turn em off while working in the room though.
White flies suck. They are in the same hard-to-kill category has spidermites. Monterey makes a Fruit Tree Plus thats pretty effective. Its a mixture of pyrethrin and neem oil. Spinosad also works well. Other than that you could use Encarsia Formosa. Its a parasitic wasp that kills over 15 kinds of whitefly. It actually the first predator bug i ever used for IPM
gifted to me a few yrs ago,
I haven't tried this out yet but sender said it worked
can be used in bloom with out the heavy chems.
WFs are no joke,
everytime ive had bad WF infestations It's been followed by a Broad Mite prob, and that a really bad joke
HYDROGEN PEROXIDE. That's right. Hydrogen peroxide.
Use 3 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide, and a few drops of dish soap. Pour it in your spray bottle, shake it up, and spray your white fly problem away. Spray the tops and bottoms of the leaves and the top layer of the medium. Use once a week for 3 weeks. I hardly saw anything after 2 weeks but I gave them a 3rd treatment just as a precaution. Apparently the hydrogen peroxide kills the egg sac and eradicates this pest right at it most vulnerable point. After 3 applications I am free of this aggravating flying satan. I made up a new solution each time I sprayed as the peroxide breaks down and looses it's potency.
Now I'm wondering if this solution will kill spider mite eggs too, but I'm not introducing them into my garden to find out.lol
Hope this helped someone.
I have had a problem with them for years. I live on a property with old citrus trees that have scale. White flies, scale and ants have it down well.
I have tried everything I have read about . Never found out how to be rid of it / them . I have been able to control the issue, so that it is not a problem for me. I use insecticidal soap and spinosaid mixed followed by hydrogen peroxide in three day cycles. As long as I do that, I see no sign. Dew awaits if I skip a few sprays. Not really had any problems with spider mites since I have started spraying. Would like to thank and credit the gnome for sharing the peroxide tip.
hey gry.. forgot to mention Volck oil.
it's old school stuff, a hi-grade mineral oil
it's very low toxicity product.
needs to be sprayed on the WFs to kill em but it's also an ovacide so with enuff treatments you'll break the life cycle.
this stuffs great.
it also effective against PM, rusts, scale leaf miners and a whole slew of other stuff.
ortho brand put it out but I haven't seen it and I think bonnide
is putting it out now
