which way seeds planted best

hi there, i am growing at the mo, and have tried to stert another lot of ladies off but failed after germ. i followed the same directions as with the plants that r currently on their 5th day in flower. i soaked them, and when cracked, and sprouting, i planted them, pointed end up(is this correct orientation?)with the end of the seed which appears to have a hole in at the bottom, its been 2 weeks since i started the 2nd lot, out of 10 seeds, 9 cracked, but only 1 has come above ground, i am currently cracking some seeds using the tupperware container?wet tissue, cable tv box method, and i am noticing that they seem to be cracking much better. how do u recommend planting, depth, orientation, soil/perlite mix levels light/dark water amount, even size pot. thank u. 1st timer

Hey, 1st timer.

The orientation of the seed doesn't really matter. Your plants know which way to go once they've germed. Plant about 1/4" (I don't know what that is in cm) below the soil. After they're in the soil I leave the lights on 24/0 to help them stay warm even though they're not out of the soil yet. I usually use party cups to start with.
Hope this helps.

What-z up Tokacola...How everything going?

I disagree...seeds need all the help they can get, I plant my seed tap root down and cover with about 1 tea spoon of soil/soiless mix.

Have a good one...

syko2 gives sound advice 1st timer. Plant the tap root down. Make sure your soil is loose, don't pack it down. I take a pen and poke a hole it the dirt about 3/8 of an inch deep. Plant the cracked seed and lightly cover it. Again don't pack the dirt. Keep them moist.

I have had seeds that were doing fine and suddenly wither and die. They are very delicate and can be easily damage.

I feel it is better to plant the seed as soon as the root is visible.

Don't get discouraged, we all have had problems. Hope this helps.

Hey, syko! 'sup.

I have to agree with ya, syko. Seeds do need all the help they can get and planting with the pointy end up is always best. However, I find that once you drop the seed in the hole, if its not pointing the right way I'll leave it alone. Everyone has their own techniques and as Captain Canibus said: seedling are very delicate, but this is also the time in the plants life where a little help from the grower can go a long way. So if you can get your seed in there pointy end up and root side down without alot of handling, go for it! I guess I should've clarified a little.

happy growing!

Hello every one...Glad I can help!!

Tokacola..when you say pointy side up I think tap root so naturly the peice that comes out of the seed pod is the tap root this should be pointed down. The seed pod should be looking up.

My prosses is simple...h2o, h2o2 & dawn dish liquade soap B-1 can be used also with out the h202. Soak the seeds for 12 to 24 hours. Place them in paper towl in a tuper were bowl with lid. Sit it on my PC or TV or DVD...once they pop I place them into soiless mix with added perlite. 60/40 pro-mix/perlite. 8oz cup filed about 3/4ths full moisten with h2o and B-1 poke a hole about 1/4th an inch in the middle and drop seed in tap root down. Cover with dry pro-mix about a pinch just to cover it. Cover that with a sandwich bag for extra humidity and heat. Flouros or house lamp 24/o till they push threw. Once they push threw I remove the sandwich bag after 24 hours and in 3 days they go under a 1000 watt metal halide.

Keep this mix moist for 2 weeks till I repot into 20 oz cups then allow them to dry inbetween waterings.
