which is more quiet ???

i'm considering buying an inline centrifugal fan, vortex 172 cfm . right now i've got 2 computer fans rated at 80 cfm each and they do the job well. if the vortex is much more quiet i would most likely get it. ...btw i live in a one bedroom apt. and the quieter the better. my grow box is 23"w x 17d x 42tall and temps in flower run about 78-80 degrees

Vortex fans are relatively quiet but any fan that moves more air is going to create sound vibrations. The whooosh is present, but is cooling or quiet what you need? I would suggest going to a local hydro shop and testing it yourself! PS; This should be in grow room designs and equipment forum.

thanks badmf ,i need both cooling and quiet but the thing is that there are no local hydro shops where i am, closest one is about 2 hours. maybe a mod will move me(please)

I have a votex 600 and I have it connected to insultated ducting and it is very quiet. Using insulated ducting will help kill the whooosh. It cost alittle more but it is worth it. Good luck

I got a elicent 6 inch and its very quiet compared to my other fan.


The flexable foil lookin ducting (the kind that looks like a slinky) is a lot quieter than the aluminum(sp). I don't think its insulated tho.
