Which Hydroponic Grow Method?

Hello,

I desire to grow one large plant hydroponically within a 4X4 tent under 750 watts, but would like to employ a method other than DWC, as to expose the roots to more oxygen.

Ideally, i would like to grow it via Aeroponic means, but i'm having a difficult time finding an efficient and effective system.

If someone could provide some advice, it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Checked out Hempy Buckets?
PROS: Simple, easy, cheap, effective.
CONS: You gotta water by hand.

Look at the Official Hempy Bucket thread and the Hempy/Coco threads.

You know... I have heard a lot about them, but haven't really given any true consideration.

Would a 10 gallon be feasible? Or even necessary to achieve a massive plant (tree)?

I'll begin some research.

Thanks :)

Also, if someone could please explain/unveil Heath Robinson's grow technique, regarding the hydroponic method, i'd appreciate it!

Thanks Thanks

I think a ten gallon bucket would be too big for a Hempy Bucket, but read the thread, I'm no expert. That's a pretty effin' big bucket, bro. Good luck!

Thanks!

Been looking into Ebb&Flo, curious as to if i could use this http://www.discount-hydro.com/botanicare-turbogarden-ebb-flow/ for a single plant grow? Fill the entire top with perlite?

Wanting to utilize a system that exposes the roots to high levels of oxygen. Ideally i would employ High Pressure Aeroponics, although that is a bit too complex at the moment.

Would Hempy Buckets better accomplish this relative to ebb and flow / NFT ?

:)

Gotta say go with a PPK. Heaths latest tree grow thread is using DWC.

Check out the "big plant ppk" in the vertical growing section. delta9nxs and others are killing it w/ those systems.

Hello Bozo,

I envy he.

I suppose i don't entirely understand what i want to achieve, my goal initially was to grow a couple plants, although now i only wish to focus my attention on one child, and spoil the Shi* out of her ;)

Now, i do not exactly care about quantity, although i would like to provide ample space for the roots.

I do aspire to produce plants free of stress, thus allowing for "absolute" allocation of energy to terpene/oil development (that stink!). Maybe this would be better achieved through a TLO (True Living Organics) approach ?

Sorry for derailing the focus here...

If someone could help make sense of this rambling, i'd appreciate it :)

...i've not done any research on them other than to know that the PPKs are modified hempy's so benefit from many of the same passive principles while adding active aeration i believe, like i said, i've not done any research on them being a lazy phuck by nature.

btw, here is delta's thread seeing as he is the one who developed the whole PPK concept some 4 or 5 years ago, this was HIS baby and he deserves the credit.

Although I understand the idea of growing one plant, and spoiling the shit out of it, wouldn't it make more sense to do the same to 2, 3 or 4. Then, if something goes wrong with one of 'em, you won't be completely shit outta luck? My $.02 worth.

My vote is for a mult-feed drip setup in coco. That way you can feed just like hydro (multiple times a day) and use organic teas and shit for the best of both worlds. My current run is using a DIY setup that I put together. The growth is crazy and the plants reek!

Check out the coco forum to see a couple guys killing it with this approach. Good luck either way!

One more thing, what are you using for training if you're just going to do 1 plant in a 4x4 area?

i would use:
WaterFarmA-250.jpg

super easy hydro system. you can also put a eheim 1048 pump inline with the drain hose (plug and play with 1/2" tubing). put a tee in if you want to see your rez level. makes easy rez change outs. drippers can plug a bit but will last a plant life cycle before cleaning.

haha, i found one of those at a local Goodwill and bought it because it came with a bag of hydroton that was worth the price of the whole thing. Those are good, huh?

Wow!

Thanks, flat9 !!!

This is the first time i've heard of this method, although i have been dreaming of a hybrid system, such as Krusty Buckets, etc.

I enjoy DWC, but i can't deny the growth of those plants that are exposed to increased levels of oxygen, the water can only hold so much!

Appreciate the recommendation :)

a lot depends on your current skill level, what your likely goals will be and how willing you are to learn new things.

...i personally got into this hobby some years ago as a way to improve the quality of my smokables and to lower costs and that is still my main focus although i now grow enough to feed not only MY head but also a few others which btw helps defray some of the expenses.

anyway, in the beginning i knew nothing and i struggled for some years searching for a reliable, repeatable method that i could run in a relaxed manner, those first few years were VERY stressful, lol.

...so for me, being the lazy phuck that i am, i now grow 8 plants in 6liter coco hempy buckets around a single 600HPS, barebulb style and i feed KISS style with Jack's Pro Hydro and cal/nit and i feed all my plants the same formula, from seed and rooted clone right through harvey.

...i yield around an elbow per cycle and it's so freekin' easy it's almost as if the shit grows itself.

...older stuff as i was learning the hempy tech.

...and a couple more current.

...btw, if you have the space to be able to create a truly organic soil mix then that would be the way to go but trying to do that indoors inside a set of bins is very difficult, ...coco hempys are easy peasy lemon squeezy, ...if you can't succeed with coco hempy's then maybe you should take up knitting as a hobby, lol.

peace, bozo

Hello Testy,

I am not currently training, i understand the royal waste of space, but i like the idea of the MAIN cola. That's the prize! I understand then that a SOG would then be ideal/efficient. I'm torn!

I do allow quite a lot of time for vegetative growth and have an LED light hanging vertical while a HPS hangs horizontal.

Thanks for the recommendations and discussion everyone!

Thanks Bozo,

The "TLO" remark was a little ambitious, what i mean is an organic soil grow essentially, although following some of those principles and referencing certain relevant strategies.

I have been considering Hempy, but i'd like a method a bit more complex/involved/stressful. A challenge is good for me, and trust me, this DWC has been one...

I know i should slow down, i get so excited and start throwing money, while i should be starting with the basics... Comparable to my audio endeavors, leaping from Bose headphones to Denon D7000's, while i should have slowly progressed and developed an appreciation for audiophile quality

most aero systems is gen for smaller plants but you can make your own and upscale it. top feed waterfarm style setups work well too

I do understand creating a balanced consistent Coco grow takes experience and knowledge. Hempy growing does intrigue me.

That's what i had thought, super, but I likely wait to ever create an aero system until i can employ High pressure techniques :/

Thanks :)
