right now, i'm using a radiator type oil heater outside my hydrohut (too big), but it's still not keeping things as warm as i'd like.

is there a low wattage small (and safe!) heater out there that i can put inside the hut and not worry about burning down the garage?

Just about any small heater with a handle would work. Then you can hang it from the small ceiling poles.
Ceramic type would be best.
The fans in the hut will circulate the heat.
I used to heat a 4x8 hut this way. I don't use a heater anymore.
I have a dehumidifier in the room (2 huts joined together) that adds a little heat.

I don't know your full set up but...assuming your using a 400 lamp, could you not consider changing to a 600 ?
This does a few things, gives you that extra heat, better lighting,(better crop), only costs 200w extra where any heater you find would probarbly at least a 600w...if you can find one that low of a wattage ( i can't find any near that low, also taking saftey into consideration)
I did this and it worked very well.

:off2: but... dongle, where/how did you join the HH's together?

Props on the air filter on the intake, and the use of the stand for efficient management of space!

Thanks!
When I had just one hut, I put plants on the lower shelf and the dehumidifier really high up so I lost no canopy.

Heres my joined hut thread:
