I start my grows in a greenhouse and move them once they are 2-3 ft tall. This year days before I was going to move them my mom had a medical emergency. She''s better still in the hospital but I never got the chance to move them. So now that I doing more then just sleeping here and checking the water and fans I find my self with 20+ plants that are 5-6 feet tall and have rooted into the ground. They are not only crowded but have reached the gh's ceiling. I am worried that if I take them out ripping some of their roots they will all end up as hermies from the shock but if I leave them in there I worry about my yield. Any suggestions? The boys should be starting to show soon ( 2 weeks) which will thin things up a bit but they'll still be mashed against the roof.

I've never grown in a greenhouse. But it sounds like your going to have to transplant them.
If they touch the roof I suspect things will go bad. If they would have been in pots of
moderate size they may not have grown so tall. But that option is not available now.

To transplant, just dig as deep around each plant as possible and try
to pop it all out in one piece. Do this in the cooler part of the day.

Good Luck.

Whatever you do decide, the sooner you do it the better. I'd take Grainger's advice and cut em back. And me personally, I would prob move them and do transplants, and hope for the best with the roots. Especially if they aren't flowering. No pics so hard to make a judgment call....

They are in smartpots moving would mean ripping what has grown through the fabric.

I would get help and/or lift slowly on one side of the smart pots while
going around them and cut off any roots with a box cutter or long knife.
Then haul them away.

Even if you cut the tops of plants. They will grow back when you flower
them and the yield will be reduced because you cut them. If they hit the
roof again then what?

I feel safer cutting a few roots vs cutting the top off of the plants.
