You are 60+ and living in an illegal state way down South and you love it there. You have major health problems, have been the recipient of a "FAILED OPEN HEART SURGERY ( the originating source of the unbelievable pain that this person lives with, at least that's the theory from other surgeons who say this person just has to bite on the rubber hose all day)(paraphrase on the hose) and for several years now live with intractable pain that require narcotics to deal with ( you have found a way to minimize the use of these drugs via cannabis and have in fact been successful in reducing the narcotics intake by 75% ( LESS, 75% LESS than prescribed ) But you still require them and the pills only take the edge off the pain which is nightmarish to the sufferer.
You are not rich but you've got enough to pay cash for a house and still have some money in the bank, enough stashed to take care of the wife even if you drop dead today and your wife is 25 years younger than you so you've really done pretty good covering her future and she takes care of you as if you were King and has been doing so for nearly 20 years. You secretly had a plan to save as much as possible, forgoing the new vette etc until you reached a level of savings that you felt comfortable with knowing that if you kicked the bucket, the love of your life would never have to worry about money unless she wanted to. She could mourn, stay put, sell the house and land and move to wherever, and have enough to live on if she's smart for the rest of her life.
You realize though how dangerous it is in this particular Southern state which is voting on medical weed this November having failed to pass it the last time despite the fact legalizing for medical actually received a small majority of votes but needed a slightly larger majority in which to pass and that's also despite virtually ZERO positive press on the west coast of this place although there's been some on the east coast. You have not been able to drive a car for several months because of blackouts from the pain. You are absolutely fked and your Wife will do anything to help and I mean anything, she's a dream come true but now you need to consider all consequences especially for her. Do you continue taking the risks in this state or move to a legal state even though even if you move to Hawaii it will be colder than where you have been for nearly 30 years and love it.
I guess money should be a big consideration. Figure this person has 7 figures saved with the 1st digit very close to being a 2 b ut still just a tad less than a 2 so Beverly Hills ain't possible ha!
This person while normally very independent and has built a business over a quarter of a century ago that still exists today and will do so thruout retirement ( easy peasy with Wife handling all with the exception of the communications on the most esoteric of items sold ) feels like shit over having to make this decision, to leave the homeland because of pain, plant etc. But at this point would at least like to see what others would consider doing if they are/have been or know someone in a similar position.
You all helped me with feedback when I lost my best friend to cancer a while back. Several took great risks in getting small quantities to him directly and thank G-d it all made it there every time without a hitch. There was also a good deal of helpful suggestions ( for all of us, the fellow who died, his Family, me, etc ) and what seemed to be a lot of love and compassion ( another positive that weed people, not all but in general have, moreso, much moreso than average in my opinion ).
Thank you in advance for any help, tips, personal experiences, etc. Really, thank you from both of us
