Where to find Mogul Base Sockets

Running TAG, GroNut's old system. 10 plants currently under 600W in a 5'6" x 3" rig. Strain is Mountain Jam, day 11 Flower.

This is my first run in this system and in a space this large. 600W was adequate for my old cab and for veg this run, but not for flowering, so i ordered another from ********* on Tuesday. Equipment arrived today, but the mogul base socket and cord were missing. I need to get this light in the garden ASAP since the stretch is beginning to slow, so I'm going to try to pick up the socket and cords locally, if available. Anyone know of any national chains (hd, lowe's, etc.) that carry suitable sockets and cords?

You need to get with the seller of said equipment. They should be more than willing to send you the missing parts via Express Mail or some other form of Courier. Any Electrical Supply House will have replacement Mogul Sockets but I'm betting they won't have a cord with the proper ends.

of course, the Depot doesn't carry MB sockets... but most residential lamp and lighting supplies houses do. It's going to be cheaper by about $30 to buy locally rather than through the HID co. I purchased the ballast from. It looks like the tricky part is finding the power cord, so I'm just going to forget about it and hardwire the socket to my ballast. I'll have light #2 humming tonight.

SOCK/243200 at 1000 bulbs.cooom prewired for 5.12$ just type in mogul socket n there search area

most ballast KITS dont include the socket, they dont know what size bulb base you are using, I think they have them in a special bin at lowes too, you need to have the correct pulse rating I think for good proformance, all hid sockets have the same pulse rating I believe

Pulse start metal halide ballasts provide the proper combination of open circuit voltage and high voltage pulses to start the lamp. The pulse is provided by a specially designed ignitor, or starter, that is used in conjunction with the ballast. As soon as the ignitor senses that the lamp has started, it discontinues the pulsing operation. At this point, the ballast sustaining voltage must be sufficient to maintain lamp operation.

High Pressure Sodium lamps start in a manner similar to pulse start metal halide lamps. The main difference is a slightly less demanding ignitor pulse requirement.

Good point mol,and if you buy a ballast kit from a local electrical supply, ask if they have a kit with a lamp included because some manufacturers do and some dont.I worked at a few elec supply houses before I got in the trade.

I think there is a small --medium-- and large (mogul) size socket availible for hid bulbs, there may be another size for commericial bulbs thats extra large

I dont know how important the pulse rated sockets are,but I know if you remote mount the ballast and the wires are too long,or you have poor connections ,,it chages the pulse of the ballast and it wont work.
