When will i need a filter

Let me start by saying I am buying a carbon filter for smell control by the end of the week.

But out of curiosity when do the plants start to smell to the point of needing a filter? (im sure this varies with strains/setups..) I was just looking for a general answer....

Do most people use a filter from the start of flowering? Or turn it on after week ____ ?

Thanks

You're correct. It is strain dependent. Some strains stink in veg. I can't speak for most people, but I run the scrubber 24/7.

Though I have not yet had a successful complete grow I have started many seeds in my quest. All are from unknown bag seeds so I have had several different results.

Some stink when vegging and some don't. Some stink when seedlings (after the first couple nodes) but some don't.

All that I have noticed is that the larger the plant, the more it stinks (when it wants to start stinking)

My last (almost successful) grow was a male plant that stunk like hell starting from it's first set of leaves. Whole basement smelled like I just smoked with 10 friends all the time. Before that I put a ton of seeds into a few pots, no stink at all until I killed them. (if I knew then what I know now...)

Back to genetics... if it is bag seed you never know. If you bought the seed for the genetics then just do some research on that strain (those if it is a cross)

Why would you not want to run it all the way through flowering? Why chance that someone else could smell something that you might not be able to? Just get one and run it all the time. Should make you feel a little safer.

Edit: Im sure those strains are stinky ones, with a name like headband!

Run it 24/7 all the way. As stated, some strains stink in veg. That said, if your in the area most of the time, you will not notice the stink until it gets very bad...and even them some get used to it and don't notice until they go somewhere else for awhile and then return. That happened to me and returning back, that stink was a slap in the face.
Just like people with BO, they don't smell it because they are used to it even though it will make your eyes bleed when in an elevator with them.

always depends on the strain for me(and my wife's nose). I have had strains i didn't need the scrubber and others that reeked after about 2-3 nodes' of veg. If i can smell em' it goes on
