when do a put babies under a 400w hps, i have just finished the grow area, checking temps etc.
i have just planted 1 skunk#1, and 3 carlifonian bud, under 4 20w cfls, dont know when they will pop thro, but was wondering when they do when should they be brought into ma grow area an put under the hps, am i even correct doing it under the cfl or should they go under the hps. am new to this but a can feel this is the start off something good, lol :joint:

No your doing fine. Keep then under the flos for 1-2 weeks after they sprout, then stick them under the 400 2-3 weeks before you flower. It is important you allow your plants to get strong enough and have at least 1-2 nodes so it can handle, and use the power of a 400 better.

But it is all up to you man, just don't stick them in there too soon... also get a fan going accross the seedlings to promote strong stem growth. you can use HPS all the way through, just keep distance of the light in mind.

keep em under the cfls after they surface. keep the cfls as close to the tops as possible. this will keep the seedlings from stretching up.

once they have a set of real leaves or two i'd throw them under the hps but DON'T try to get it anywhere near as close.. keep it 18-24 inches away from the tops at first and once the plants get used to the increased light (a week or so usually) then go ahead and move it down to 12 inches or however close you can get it without heat issues.

Ive always started seeds about 2-2.3 feet from my 400Mh, then about 2-3 days after they sprout i start to lower the light day by day til about 10-14 days above ground it's prolly 15-18" away from em.....ive never had any problems they always seem real happy and usually from when i plant em and get em in the light, to when they pop up is no more than 1-3 days everytime.

Yeah if your carefull with your distance you can grow seedling under a 400 watt. But I would stick with the cfl's untill you had a few nodes. Or else your just wasting power.

yg i agree with the power waste, a ran ma 400 for a few days and night, holy fook it eats the electricity, cfl ma bro pays the bill for now lol.
anyway has anybody any ideas on the feeding am just gonna use a grow bag with timoritte for my first attempt, putting together the equipment has been a serious drain on my financies. tht an a 13yr old boy who has got a xbox360 tucked by for xmas, gotta keep the kid happy, lol.
o if the bag an food is shit please suggest an alternative if ya could. a dude who has helped called harry gypsna said his friend grew in a bag, just seemed easy, so for the first time a thought a would try it :chin:

i'm loving these poly grow bags i use.. my first go with them..

i start with weak vegetative feedings (1/4 recommended strength) on the 3rd or 4th week of growth from seed. mostly depending on when they need watered.
