When to take cuts for next round?

I have GOT to get everybody on the same schedule! I have a cab full of potential clones. So I want to start around June 1st. I plan to take cuts around mid April. I figure 15 to 20 days from cuts to cups. Then around 10 days untill they are ready for 6 inch pots. 10 more days to 1gl containers. Once they are established in 1glpots, I should be able to raise them anyway I choose. Does 50 days sound about right? :chin:

you could get from clone to a good size plant in 50 days, If you bubbleor aero clone you cut a lot of time off the rooting process. If you are cloning in soil, I would take 1/3 -2/3 more clones than you actually want, this way you can make sure you will have enough for your start date. I wouldnt do all that small to big transplant nonsense but i hear it helps new growers keep from overwatering.

Small to big transplant nonsense?Could you explain the benefits of not transplanting or planting directly into a large conatiner?Besides the work involved?

I'm surely a new grower. To make a long story short. I have too many kids all at different stages of growth. All the varying needs are making my job more difficult than need be. All my recent cloning practice has my cab overflowing! I want the cab to hold a few mom's, start clones and get them out as soon as they are big anough. doing the majoriety of vegging in the grow room. I hope that makes sense. :chin:

I'm inclined to agree with Bob. I want good root mass before they go to larger pots. Best way is to use a series progressively larger containers.

Why not consider a perpetual grow instead of keeping moms around, its way too simple.Just take a couple cuts from each plant you want to keep around before you go 12/12 with it and repeat,I've been doing it this way for years,3 years with a blockhead pheno.Just take all cuts in veg starting with the original seedplant and you're in business.Never take cuts after 12/12 has commenced growing this style.

I'm working toward that end. Untill I'm confident on my cloning skills I want to keep a few of my favorite ladies around. Right now I got 10 ready to chop in 10 days. I have 6 more ready in 16, then 4 more in another 16 days. Then my cab is slap full of more than a few of each!. Some of the ladies want this the othes want that. My poor ole back! LOL Next round I want all to be on the same timeline. I figure 40 to 50 days from cuts 2 to 1gl pots. Then under the big lights for veg untill happy in 3 gl pots. When I pull this off I'll start trying this other fancy stuff I read about! :dueling:

28 days left of current grow gives you 4 to 5 weeks to get cuts ready.

10day to clone and root, 10day preveg in small cups under flouros, now ready to plant but could keep revegging in larger pot for as long as you need.

the benefit would be less transplanting, less stress.

Thanks for the insight! I'll shoot for 40 days, this will give me time for some needed upgrades on the room.

Less transplanting may be a benefit to my back, but its the lazy way not the correct way.The benefits are simple, first any stress due to transplanting is either a result of imagination or incorrect transplanting techniques,I've never observed stressed plants in the hundreds of transplants I've done.If you plant a seed directly into a 3 gal container, veg and flower her out,you have wasted half the soil in the container and the rootball is far from extensive, the plants roots grow along the sides and sometimes out the drainholes,if you are able to finish the grow in 3 gal you are lucky, but your plant is not.Letting the rootball fill each container before transplanting up each time utilizise all available soil, there is no empty spot in the middle. The rootball is much more extensive du to this, and the plant is healthier and happier. But dont take my word for it,plant similar phenos's in 3 gal containers and 4 inch containers and experiment for yourself.Whatever you do,please dont tell new growers transplanting is a "waste of time" or results in stressed plants, because it surely doesn'tEDIT I didnt even mention proper watering technmiques which requires full saturation of the media each and every time, and allowing the plant to tell you when it needs water and a transplant, you cant do this unless the plant is in the proper sized container for its size

I agree 100%. The benefits are obvious. The root structure of any plant is to support it and supply water and nutrients it needs to sustain it's life cycle.
It's a given , more root structure means more support for the plant and greatly improves it's ability to supply water and nutrients. Regardless , the best way the container grower promotes rootmass of a young plant is by starting in small containers then transplant into progressively larger containers. Waiting for the root mass to become almost root bound before moving up in size. Last round I moved up in container size to quickly. This round I waited and have much more healthy plants.
Was cannabis designed by nature to have a fibrous or tap root structure?
