When to start flushing

I have a couple of plants that are on day 49 of flower (bagseed). None of the hairs have started to change and most of the trichs are still clear. I don't have a clue as to when to start flushing. Will the hairs start changing colors along with the trichs? Will the hairs EVER change? Do I start to flush when most trichs are cloudy? I hate this not knowing crap. I think the plants are sativa dom. I've looked at pics of trichs at different stages and I have my handy little Radio Shack Microscope. I guess I'm just a little too anxious.
Tonight is feeding time so I guess I'll do that. Can anyone please school a poor dumb newbie :pointlaug
Thanks

Your not a dumb newbie, you probably just took some advice thats questionable at best lol.If I'm mistaken just disregard but I hear so many people say someone thats never grown before should start with bagseed.Thats nuts to me.Besides the fact that so much bagseed is sat dominant and has hermie tendencies and may take forever to finish if it ever does, you have absolutely no history of the strain whatsoever. You are growing blind which is not a good idea for a newbie if you ask me lol. With an inexpensive seed from a seedbank, you have a written history of finishing times, average size and structure, plenty of info.Besides that your fellow growers that have grown the same strain can be of help, nobody here has grown that exact bagseed I'm pretty confident in saying lol.Sorry I cant be of more help, you'll just have to grow her out and hope for the best.If you have zero male parts on her you've already done exceptionally well lol.Next time grow a strain with a history, you'll find it to be a lot more fun too when you can actually involve yourself in the growing instead of basically just waiting for the damn thing to finish if that made one iota of senseEDIT God man I'm sorry just ramblin away like hell tonight about flushing I'm assuming your in soil for sure right? Many people will disagree, its a judgement call.I dont flush at all per say,or you could say I flush each and every time I water/feed.I get about 20% runoff of what I pour in,total saturation all the way through is important to me.I may decrease the ferts the last couple weeks and let the plant use up whats in the soil,.but I never try to "flush" out any supposed bad taste. The real culprit is nitrogen anyway, and at that point your plant should be very nitrogen defecient.I've never ever tasted anything that resembled ferts/chemicals in my erb.I dont use garbage either though, only fox farm and PBP with liquid Karma of course lol

Bag seed has its place, and that place is teaching people who dont know how to start seeds how to do just that! Once you invest a little money in lighting and a cab etc $15 for nirvana seeds seems like a great deal and you know what you have growing!

Yeah, I can see both points. I have these in soil under a 400w hps. The last feeding, and I guess tonight too, will be 16/8 ml. of GH Bloom/Micro. And no nanners yet either. So I guess I should keep feeding a little longer, huh? Will the hairs change along with the trichs? What happens if I harvest too soon?

Your guess is as good as mine bro,I would throw her into a 13 dark 11 light photoperiod now though it'll help her finish up.Actually its not a bad sign all the p[istils are still white hell sometimes the two different occasions I grew bagseed the pistils would start to turn at around 6 weeks,I knew my bitch pollenated herself then lol.Sounds like a pure female. The 13 hours dark at this point wont affrect yield it should just give it a little "push" in the right direction.

i agree

if you've gone 49 days already then i'd just gamble and start flushing soon... like in a few days or week. this is where knowing your strain is important... if you harvest early then at least you know for next time. You can flush for a month if it comes down to it, but a week would do most of the work.

Yeah, I think last night will be the last feeding they get. The fan leaves are all turning yellow and dropping off. I just wish the pistils would turn, at least I'd feel better about it

topwater,

I'm not knocking what the other growers are saying about known strains being better for newbies than bagseed, but sometimes you may not be able to acquire them. Be it for financial reasons, security reasons, whatever. That being said, I feel that bagseed is a great, inexpensive way to learn to grow.

My first few grows were bagseed and with the help of some of the fine folks here at ICMag, I was able to get some really good green from plants whose genetic histories were completely unknown to me. I had a sativa-ish girl who went for 8o+ days and a more indica girl that went for a little over 60.

Use your microscope to look at the trichs (I've been told don't just go by the hairs) and when they are cloudy/amber enough for you, then flush the plant. In other words, let the plant tell you what to do. Personally, I flush when I see a few amber trichs, so I don't have really couch lock weed, but it's all personal preference.

Take care and BE SAFE.

Thanks for the feedback budhownd. I have been checking the trichs every other day or so and have only seen clear ones so far. And literally none of the pistils have changed. Man, I sure hope these don't go 80 days, lol. That would mean another thirty to go!! I'm needing some smoke and refuse to buy the schwag going around here. Oh well, the buds on the smaller one are really starting to fatten up, so maybe the wait will be worth it. I'll post pics when I'm about ready to harvest.
Thanks for all the responses guys, I appreciate it.
