When to harvest... couple ?

Well i have my first grow in flowering now, there at 8 weeks yesterday, i was planning on chopping them on the 9th week but i deffintley dont think theyre ready i borrowed a friends shitty loupe but it sucks and i could barely see anything, when i did see them the caps were still clear, could i get buy using a magnifying glass or something cheap to look at my trichs? or are they are ways i can know when to harvest with out looking at the trichs? , like 3/4 of there hairs turning red etc ..

If you have a Radio Shack nearby, you can buy a 60-100X hand-held "microscope" for about $10. Otherwise, a 30X to 50X loupe will be fine.

I usually chop when the trich heads are mostly cloudy and about 25% amber. If you like more couch-lock buzzes, you can let the plant go longer.

Going by pistils isn't as reliable, especially if the plant is pollenated. If you know the variety you are growing, you can learn to go by the pistils.

Added - If you are planning on keeping clones to flower this out again, you might try taking some buds every few days to test and see what harvest window is ideal for the plant. That's the best way to judge.

its mostly a personal question. Do you like more amber trihcomes?? for a really knock you on your ass high...or do you like the milky trihcomes??(my personal fave 10% amber and 90% millky), or you can go the pussy route and go clear trichomes for a short lived premature high. Some people can judge a plants ripeness by look(only reserved for growers familiar with their strains), if you dont know your strain that you are growing taht well then consult your local radio shack and get a handheld loupe with alight, works great

wells thanks for all the quick replys! i personally for the most time want the narcotic high so i want them amber but im all set with the clear caps , i have a 30x loupe right now it was 20 dollar junker and its really hard to focus in on anything so im deffintley for another one i have such a headache from squinting with one eye for 20 mins lol

"going by pistils isn't as reliable,ESPECIALLY IF THE PLANT HAS BEEN POLLENATED"Man I love good info,this is rarely talked about.There are different degrees of pollenation also,sensimella is definately attainable but a couple seeds per plant is not uncommon.Some may attribute this horticultural "immaculate conceptions" which though proven in some other plants,I just dont buy it with cannabis.If there is seed there was pollen present which makes judging finishing times by pistil color basically obsolete IMO.You can let a plant flower past her finishing time and get a male flower for self pollenation due to preservation instincts but thats not what I was talking about,I was talking about the presence of pollen during flowering.(Try to let a 100% female flower past finishing time to get a male flower and some of that sweet "female pollen",it'll work but only if you're not trying lol.Do it as a project its a bitch,let her go accidentally and forget it and bingo..go figure.

TheGerminator........ hey, what I have is called a photographers loupe..... you can get a cheap one for like 5-6$ at any photography store...... not as powerful as a radioshack 30x scope... but it's a lot easier to use... (for me) harvest em when they are like overripen smelly peaches..... mmmmm you'll know when that is.....

So true,the only thing I've used my scope for in a long time is to confirm the presence of spidermites,after a few grows you will just know.
