When to give up on a seedling..

I've got four plants from random bagseed going. Started all at the same time. Two appear to be the same strain, the other two are similar as well. Anyway I've got great growth on two and the others are lagging behind quite a bit. No new growth in two weeks...

The plants that are growing well already have many beaches and pairs of full leaf sets. The others are still stuck at an early growth strange and have four leaves and don't look very healthy overall.

I've been feeding the smaller seedlings a lower nute solution, but nothing seems to help.

I'm wondering if I should give them another week or just cut them out right now. Doesn't seem worth it to waste nutes if they aren't going to grow well.

Maybe keep them and just feed with straight water?

What is the rule of thumb on letting a plant go?

Not really a big deal because it's unknown bagseed anyway, but I'm having a hard time giving up on them!

I've gone back out to the compost pile looking for seedlings I tossed.

If you have the room, see what you can do. Hone your skills.
You will know soon enough if they should be kept.

Slow vegging plants can be worthy.

Id transplant em to a bigger before ya give up on em. Could be a bomb indica you got

Ok, I'll continue to give them a chance. Haven't died yet, so I guess thats good.

I've started LST on the other two, thats how much farther along they are. :watchplant:

Just sucks to have to mix up different ratios of nutes! Oh well!

I think that may have been part of the cause. I transplanted them to my bigger containers too soon. They didn't really recover and the others did.

I was also not checking my PH and found I was feeding them at around 9.0. (Tap water is really high).

It all has been a learning experience though!

Be careful not to overwater too - this is probably the one of the most common problems the new growers experience... especially when the seedlings are small.

Good luck

Thanks Twist, my instincts keep telling me to water all the time but I'm watering with nutes at most every other day. I have a moisture meter at the bottom of one of my hempy buckets and wait until that displays 'dry' before adding more. Not relying 100% on this, but it's nice to have a visual.
