When to flower?

I understand i can flower whenever i want by changing the photo period. When i look at the plant how will i know when i am ready?

I'm working in a small indoor cabinet. Should i let the plant get 1-2 feet than flower?

Does it grow alot during flowering or just form flowers? I'm guessing most/all of the growth is during vegging?

What kind of height to you have to work with ?

How much your plants grow during flower depends on the strain. Anywhere from 30% up to 300%.

Untrained i started my first flowering at 12inches and it ended at 3 footers.

only on my second grow but ive veged for 3 to 4 weeks but its up to you some people only veg for a week some a lot longer i surpose it depends on the strain as CFL said as well as what way your going to do it theres many hydro ways as well as soil
and do you plan to take cuttings you will wont to do this befor you change your light cycle as you take cuttings in veg
good luck which ever way you decide to go

Depends on your grow style, size of light and strain. I do SOG'S so put my clones straight on to 12/12, no veg time except for waiting for the clones to get going. But if you do SCROGS or grow trees then veg time is a necessity. So many variables to consider.

You need to know the stretch of your plant. Once you know that you can determine.

The *majority* of growth comes between 0 and 30 days of flower. If you have a small cab you should be flowering your clones at about 4-6 inches.

Type : Mostly indica
Genetics : Hash Plant x Blueberry
Flowering Time : Medium
Height : Tall

Germ'ed from seed on 9/16

I was considering topping this plant. If i top it i could use the part i top as a clone, correct?

I was thinking about making 4 clones. Running the clones on 12/12 and flowering this lady at the same time.

wondering about the height of your closet/cab.

my flower room is 4 ft tall and i wait for node 10 to top my plants, i take the tenth node so i end up with 18 side branches.

either when it reaches 1/3 of your height restriction or when the plants (if growing more than one) fill the room horizonticaly.

If you run a SCROG you should flower it when 80% of the screen is filled.

Wow, heaps i wanna comment on.

1. Your soil PH sounds fine but next time try & get it closer to 7.0

2. Depends how much yield you want but 1-2 feet of an average indica that you induce into flowering will net you about roughly 1 ounce.

3. You really need to grow your plant out first before you have an idea about its stretch but usually if i dont know the strain i leave about 6 inches to a foot in my cab for it to stretch. Doesnt matter if your plant doesnt stretch much in the end (especially cos it's indica) but better a smaller first yield than gangly plants that are too big for ur cab.

4. I would definitely top the plant seeing as you're growing indoors. You should research a technique called "FIM". This thread is an awesome guide you should definitely read:

Your plants will get super fat & bushy after FIM-ing which is exactly wat you want.

Good growing to you

Hey Guys:wave:

Well i tend to put my cutting to flower when there about 5 to 6 inchs tall, Which in my case is two or three weeks after potting up.
Normaly they will finish about 16 to 18 inchs tall, but with that said if any do start to get taller than the rest i just bend them over for a even SOG.

May be this will help you??????

To my understanding the plant grows 3 times its actual size at the time if you lst or scrog well you can maximize and flower when your grid is full,or your bonzai is ready.

I personally flower from the word go then veg once I know the sex then I switch back after I have noticed a bit more hieght, keep em small and round.

Good luck dude, please post pics :)

Aweh!!!

Oh also, you could top the plant now and try and clone it. However, you'd have a better chance of success for cloning if you take a cutting from one of its lower branches wen it gets a bit taller. There are more hormones in the lower branches which makes a lower branch cutting root a bit easier. I'd just FIM the plant & then throw away the cutting & wait for a lower branch to come up.

I prefer cloning with the vigorously growing top growth, works just fine and am reluctant to use lower spindly growth. I get an excellent strike rate from this upper growth, I don't bother with the lower shit.

im about a month from seed now. When does vegging become less effective as far as yield is concerned?

Hey man....
1st off, the healthier the plant the better it will be going into transition for flower...sometimes I prolong veg because plants are recuperating from a screw up. :wallbash:

There are a few factors to take into consideration for answering this question. Some people like a single cola grow, I am one of those that feels a multi topped plant with smaller colas is better...this is just my opinion of course.

The question being asked really is not just, a time line...it is how much space do you have to flower it out in. How much is she going to stretch when put into flower etc. The plants I just recently put into flower were topped three or four times and vegged from seed for about 7 weeks. They went in at about 36-40 inches and are now double that in height and width...
Some people veg plants to be 5 or 6 feet tall because they have the space to have 10 foot tall trees...if u don't then u have to look at her and take into consideration she (like most plants) will about double in height and width...usually.
In essence, the longer the veg and healthier the plant, the more bud u will see from them.

Ramble...stoned..
Hope this helps answer your question.

I think i'll let her reach 30% of the height of the grow place so there is space between the plant and lights. I just feel like i've been vegging forever.

Topped her once. Is it worth it to top multiple times?

Topped her once. Is it worth it to top multiple times?

That question seems to be a debate on here that will never end. I personally top at least two or three times during veg...It is all preference as well as the strain u r growing. Certain strains u do not want to top because they are already stumpy and fat and round. Others grow tall so topping helps them to become fat and bushy. In the end if u looking for one big cola, no topping, if u looking for several smaller colas...top them. :tiphat:
