When something is funny with your order or not?

Let's say this order is not from Sboo, but from a sponsor here. Let's say the seed was ordered from here because Sboo does not carry it. Would you think something is funny or "up" if: 1). it took 2 weeks from mainland Europe to Eastern N America? When it had a November 3 European postmark on it? 2). you selected a cheaper shipping option that does not require you to sign, and they send for no extra charge registered mail where you have to sign? 3). the shipping inside the envelope looks very amateurish? 4). an alarm-like sound is going off when you go to the post office, you step out and it stops, you step back in and it starts again? 5). The guy behind the counter tries unsucessfully to scan it and has to type it in by hand and says "its registered mail" in a surprised voice? 6). not a town cop to be found, one state cop passing through, and lots of chopper traffic when checking the website of this seed vendor and the email the order confirmation was sent to? Or am I just bugging out and that was really good sativa? I did get it, now about 10 hours later nice and quiet and no signs of problems. What do you think?

If anything then "they" would wait until it's worth busting you hence you have a grow going.

It's not gonna happen for a dozen seeds.

1) No. Ground or regular mail from Europe can take 2 - 3 weeks, even if it's registered mail -- Customs out of Europe (even UK), Customs into USA, and other usual postal handling.

2) Sending registered mail instead of cheaper method is a little "hinky", unless the vendor was a bit slow fulfilling the order -- email your sales contact to find out, after checking their on-line FAQs. This vendor may have had a rash of customers claiming to have never received their product. Maybe if the answers you get from the vendor are unsatisfactory, it's time to switch vendors.

3) If you were expecting some slick packaging, change your POV. No European vendor wants to ship to the USA without being as stealthy as possible -- Marc Emery's trials & tribulations has chilled everyone's jets. And in some European countries, even seeds are illegal, just not enforced like the USA.

4) Passed through a metal detector at the Post Office with too many keys? Doubt it. More likely an annunciator to alert busy, multi-tasking staff that a customer has entered the premises. USPS is only a quasi-government entity, and customer service still counts in spite of staff RIFs.

5) Registered mail from Europe is a bit unusual, since many businesses rely upon overnight / 2nd day service from FedEx or UPS. If US Customs had discovered contraband in your shipment, they would likely have seized the package and sent you a form letter notifying you of this.

6) Vivid imagination, or paranoia strikes deep.

I hope that I have helped to allay your fears with this response. Hundreds or thousands of people receive mail from Europe every week. The smaller your town's USPS is, the more likely that the postal worker encountered something out of the ordinary with your registered mail.

well you kind of put me at ease, thanks! ;)
But the registered mail thing is a little weird to say the least, and your pointing that out only makes it seem more fishy. It is a small town. No, I was not expecting anything flashy, of course not. The outer envelope was nothing that stuck out, but it was not everyday mail for me either. It's what's inside the envelope that I found amateurish. I have had better inner packaging (more protective, and more discreet if someone did peek into the corner of the envelope) from private people than this seed vendor. Then again, it wasn't bad but could have been better. A postal truck drove up my long steep driveway in the early afternoon and I was asleep as I work nights. They beeped. I ran in to get into clothes and out of my pajamas, and the mail truck took off. I went to the post office a few hours after that. The writing on the registered mail slip had some strange name on it, and the slip said it was a "large envelope". It was like a 6 by 9 inch padded envelope. I know I don't have a lot to go on to get the suspicion wheels turning, but those things are a little funny. I will e-mail them and find out. thanks for the help edit: how did you know it was a dozen? :D It was about that, a few more including the freebies.

I had no access or knowledge how to access a "safe addy", so it was my home addy. I do not have anything going right now, but of course do have some smoke.

Post-9/11, Patriot Act and all that homeland security bullshit has made many formerly "safe addy" solutions totally uncool.
A private Mailboxes Etc. drop-box usually requires proper ID these days to establish an account.
A USPS mail box is subject to nosy employees with perhaps too much free time on their hands.
Surreptitiously using a neighbor's mailbox, with the expectation of always getting to their mail before they do is very uncool.

OTOH, using a well-established mailing address for an infrequent overseas USPS package is fairly ordinary and unsuspicious, excepting that bit with the registered mail, which bears further inquiry. Using your residence, that isn't also a current grow operation, is doubly cool. You should be fine in your situation.

thanks for your help Dave. I e-mailed them and haven't had a response after like 24 or more hours but I know that it does take a couple days sometimes. And I agree with what you said, if I asked a friend or family member I would be breaking #1 rule, don't tell anybody. I can't be sure they would do it, and that I could trust them if they did. I feel anonymity is not compromised unless they peek and they usually would not have reason to especially with such a small order. Even a cc order, could be anything, most of these places also sell totally legal things too and how do they know what you ordered?

I did initially think it was possible, albeit unlikely, that they set me up, and they sent it this way so they would have a signature, which would rule out the spam mail or "I didn't order this" excuse. Then they would wait until they think a grow is well under way before storming in. But now it seems they just made a bone-headed mistake on their part. any more ideas or advice would be nice. thanks for everything

ps. if asked, I would just say I was just picking it up for someone and did not know what the contents were.

Lol I remember my first seeds order. Like you I didnt have a grow going at the time so figured if I was going to order through the post (previously bag seeds and souveniers from amsterdam), and anything was going to come of it, then that would be the prefect time to do it. I sent my order in, and waited, then one day the postman turned up wanting me to sign for the seeds, I knew what it was as I dont get that much post. There was a car parked across the street with a man and a woman in it. I immediately thought I knew the score, plain clothes watching me sign for my seeds. But I signed anyway and with the door open, threw the package onto the telephone table as if I had no idea what it was and it wasnt of any interest, closed the door and went upstairs to peek at the car accross the street, heart pounding, fully expecting the police to to race up the road to my door step any moment. After a while the couple drove off, no idea to this day what they were up to, but it didnt involve me as that was 8 years ago. I was also concerned as I hadn't ordered the package registered delivery, and it freaked me out having to put my signature to recieving something illegal, (well strictly speaking seeds arent illegal here but you know what i mean).
The point of all that is to say that we spend so much effort covering ourselves, and looking for danger signs, that we can see them where they arent there. Unfortunatley we have to behave this way though to keep ourselves safe. I know what you're going through, but seriously the situation is that the seed vendor doesnt want you claiming the money you paid back saying they didnt arrive, they know they did since you have now signed for them. The customs didnt see your shipment as they would have confiscated it if they had. The choppers arent looking for you, they know where you live and can come and get you anytime they want, no need to watch you from a chopper. Chill man, you made it, you have your seeds, now set up your grow and keep yourself safer by not needing to score anymore.

Mr. Pink, don't know what the hell you are talking about. And how GreenLung got positive feedback for nothing but BS is beyond me. If you are going to say something useful do it otherwise get the fuck out!

Again, GMT, thanks for the helpful post! I wondered why I had to sign registered mail when I ordered their cheapest shipping option for seeds only. I thought one of 2 things, either it is a trap or most likely it was just them messing up on their end. But now you provided a 3rd option that makes a lot of sense. peace
