When do YOU switch to flower

Idk how but if a mod could make this a poll thatd be awesome.

I suppose from seed and from clone are two different categories.

I'm more interested in "from seed"- how many weeks do you wait? What height do you wait for? Or how many branches/nodes?

As for clones do you just let them root and go? So no more than 1-2 weeks?

And the second part of the question: 1) does your plant double, triple in height, what? And approximately what is your yield *per plant*? Basically just why you choose this time versus waiting longer/shorter and what to expect from flowering at a certain time

I think it'd surprise most people the different results they would get if they did things differently. But mostly just a noob trying to learn

And as for me, from seed I wait till the plant is 2" so usually 8-10 weeks (indica exclusive) as I only have. 1- 2 babies at a time. Though I am doing an experiment of 12/12 from seed after reading that massive thread (good read by the way, check it out)

When we used to run photoperiods, we'd veg for 6-7 weeks, then switch to 13/11, 2 weeks later 12/12....similar to sun cycle heading towards equinox (Fall).
Too, it depends if indica or sativa dominant. sativas take longer to finish.

Lot's of angles to these questions. For me personally I am severely restricted on height so I veg as long as I can and then flip at the point when I think the plants are going to top out right before they hit the ceiling. As far as gauging stretch if you don't know what they do look to the parents and the lineage in order to get a better idea of how they will do. Some plants have zero stretch while it's more typical to see 2x stretch. I have seen 3x stretch and I'm sure some of the crazy sativas and land races can stretch even more! The time periods for vegging will differ based on genetics as well. Some take their time while others will speed through veg. Indicas will be slower for all these typically. Regarding yield I would just keep that out of your thoughts. I think it creates an imaginary number and you will be dissapointed if you don't hit it. Instead focus on the present and what you can be doing to make your weed the highest possible quality. Everything else will fall into place.

my growspace is limited (180 cm height), so i have to act accordingly.
when a hybrid sat/ind reaches 30-40 cm i switch to 12/12
when a hybrid ind/sat reaches 40 cm i switch to 12/12
landrace sativa is a different story.

Thanks for the quick replies guys

As far as yield it was more of a curiosity just to document "flip 12/12 at time A leads to yield xx and flipping at time B yields xy" sort of cause and effect

I never sell, just personal, so my yield is always "more than enough" lol... I hate "how much will my plant yield?" Noob threads

I have height restrictions now and don't grow plants over 15 inches or so..so I never flower out seed plant .. as soon as I can clone it , I top it and use clone to sex it,,then let mom get bushy and take clones...yeehaw

depends on the strain and the stretch.. stumpy indicas get a longer veg than run away sativas... I'd say I veg to 12 inches on a haze and 18 on an indi... how long it takes is less important... to me at least :)
