High ICers,
I just learned a couple of nice ventilation tricks I thought it would be good to share .....
Helping a friend with a modest indoor setup in some flats we needed a super stealthy garden, so got a nice Prima Klima Carbon filter to match the 150L 6" RVK fan and added some soundproofing in the shape of Leroy Merlin's flooring felt to the floors and walls. [the green one you use under wooden floors]
All was well .... bar some extractor sounds making it through the ducting and out of the window ... the upstairs neighbour often sits just 2m away, so we had to silence it some more. A strong SONY TV cardboard box was sitting in the skip nearby, so it got grabbed, divided top to bottom and lined with the flooring felt. The duct is plumbed into the box and the box into the window, it is now utterly silent, hard to believe the difference.....
So, there we were with a lovely silent garden, checking out the sunset from the balcony, when a waft of infinite Cheesiness passes our noses...... oh dear, Carbon or not, some smell unacceptably was escaping..... friends worried, I looked into Ozone generators.... only to turn up and see "the new solution"..... 2 pine air fresheners........ I tried to nicely explain that I didn't think they would do that much, but tried to be open-minded about it......My friend stuffed them into the silencer box and much to my surprise it works really well, if you are blessed with a waft, it is Pine not Skunkiness. They are rated at 6 weeks BTW, in a warm flow, maybe 2 or 3, so, they need changing, but they are cheap and it works.
Safe growing IC people.
