How long has this problem been going on? About 4 weeks, been progressing slowly.
Are you growing in a PVC grow tent? (example: Hydrohut or any other non brand tents) Yes, the Dark Room
What system are you running? (DWC? Ebb flow? Aero? Water Farm? Flood Tables? and so on...) Hand water in coco once every other day
What STRAIN are you growing? Serious Seeds AK47, Serious Seeds Bubble Gum, Sam the Sjunkman's Original Haze X Skunk 1, Sensi Seeds Northern Lights #5 X Haze, Reservoir Seeds Gonzo #2
What was the establishing technique? (Were the seed or clone?) Seed
What is the age of your plants? Approx. 6 weeks
How long have they been in there mixture they are in now?(coco, soiless etc..) Approx. 6 weeks
How tall are the plants? Range from 2-3'
What PHASE are the plants in? (seedling, vegetative or flower) are the plants in? Veg now, put them in flower for 1 1/2 weeks to show sex as all weren't showing pre-flowers
What Technique are you using? Hand water in coco every other day in a 5"x5" pot, anymore they get over-watered
What substrate/medium are you using?(Hydroton, RockWool etc.) Coco
What is the Water temperature? Room temp, approx 75
What color are your roots? White? Brown? Are your roots slimy? White, not slimy
What Nutrient's are you using?(If growing soiless) FloraNova Grow
How much of each nutrient are you using with how much water? *Knowing the brand is very helpful* .5ml/Gallon of FloraNova Grow
How often are you feeding? (If using soiless) Every other day
How often are you giving nutrients? (If using soiless) Every other day
If flowering, when did you switch over to using Bloom nutrients? Never switched when I put them in flower for 1 1/2 weeks to show sex
What is the TDS/EC/PPM you are using? Don't know
What is the pH of the "Tank"? Ranges from 5.8-6.0
Are you sure your calibration is correct on your equiptment? Yes
When was your last watering? Yesterday
What is your water temps? Approx 75 degrees
When was your last feeding change? (ie. grow-bloom-micro-additional) About 2 weeks ago when I upped the nutes to .5ml/gallon
How often do you clean your system: example: Flush out water replace with clean water and nutrients? Mix new nutes every feeding, did a quick flush from nute burn a couple weeks back
What size bulb are you using? 1000w hps
What is the distance to the canopy? 3'
What is your RH Factor(Relative Humidity)? Ranges from 30-70... I've tried it all, but keep it around 50 now
What is the canopy temperature? 83
What is the Day/Night Temp? (Include flucutaion range) Ranges from 70-85
What is the current Air Flow? (cfm etc.) approx 1400cfm (not inlcuding what is taken away by the scrubber) for a 10x10 room
Tell us about your ventilation, intake exhaust and when its running and not running? Passive. Exhaust fan is running 24/7.
Is the fan blowing directly at plants? No
Is your water HARD or SOFT? Soft
What water are you using? Reverse Osmosis (RO)? Tap? Bottled? Well water? Distilled? Mineral Water? Tap
Are you using water from a water softener? No
Has plant been recently pruned, cloned off of or pinched? They were topped about 2 weeks ago
Have any pest chemicals been used? If so, What and When? No
Are plant's infected with pest's? No

Basically this all started once the plants got a few weeks old. All plants are affected, but some are a lot worse than others. Some just have the curling tips, while others have the yellowing leaves, curling tips, and dryness. It seems to be progressing slowly. They do need re-potted but I don't think that's the issue. Would appreciate some opinions. Thanks!

Some guesses. Calcium or magnesium or both deficiency? I say that because it is usually mentioned with coco and you aren't using Cal/Mag in some form.

Could be ph problems. My ph fluctuated a lot when I went two days between watering them and I'm dong better now watering everyday. But totally different situations/styles, so that is just for what its worth.

Do you measure the ph of your run-off or can you next time? If its coming out at 7.0 or 4.0 that will tell something. How much extra water comes out of each pot when you water them?

Fans blowing hard directly on leaves can do damage as can lights being too close or light hot spots can happen. Things to consider.

Good luck getting it figured out. Add about 1ml/gal of Cal/Mag to start would be my first guess.

hitboss, is the coco drying out between waterings? and what is the ph of the run off?

edit; did not see your post bobbleheadjed sounds on the money

BobbleheadJed, I was thinking mag def. Will have to pick some cal/mag up. Haven't been testing the runoff
but I will today. Was just hoping it wasn't offgasing...

mrbiggs, on some, yes; On others, no. I tend to water every other day no matter if it's dry or not.

Thanks for the help.

i personally never let the coco dry out, it seems to throw the ph out of wack useally down .

The ph of the run-off was 5.34 when I checked this afternoon. Also picked up some cal-mag plus and started at 5ml/gallon, ppm was around 900, can't remember the exact figure... that's with the FloraNova Grow at .5ml/gallon as well. Ph was at 5.94...

Will see how they react to the cal-mag and will also water/feed every day and see how they do.

How long does it usually take for them to come back assuming it is a mag def?

I would investigate those, also--

I was hoping it wasn't the tent, but the change seemed to happen a few weeks in, not from the beginning so I think/hope I can count out the water and tent.
Side note, the leaves seem to be less dry after the cal-mag feeding a few hours ago (or maybe it's just in my head lol), even the really bad ones, so we'll see what happens in the next few days.

Hitboss,if its a dr range of tents your ok.
Just my opinion, i would pot them up, feed them with only cal/mag + water for a couple days and wait until the bottom leaves start yellowing, just by a shade, so you know they are ready to start feeding again ,without locking up.also boost your ph to 6.1-6.2 just until runoff raises.I think potting them up is your main concern.
good luck

STOP using the Cal/Mag!
Stop using soft water.
Use RO water only, no other additives.

Your problem will go away. Everything else you're doing is perfect.
When you switch to flower, go 8ml/gal Floranova Bloom and you'll be golden. :D

i've had the same issue most likley lockout do to to much calcium. tab water usually carries amounts of ca/mg and when adding cal/mag it only make the possiblity for calcium to lock out mg much more likely. i would flush with some ro water or some distilled water and when feeding with tap water lay off the cal/mag. alot of nutes have mg already it calcium is what is usually the colpurrit people tryn to over compensate for the absorbition of cal. due to coco medium. Also when u let coco dry out it can cause salts to build which causes lots of problems like lockout. Pure Coco never can be overwater imo. Never have had issue of overwatering but tons when i let shit dry to much

I would not rule out the environment yet. What I would do is remove one plant from the environment for a view days and see what happens. If the environment has something to do with it then it should show signs of improvement within a view days. You will be glad you did, one way or another you will be sure :)

He's using soft (pre-salted) water with a nute that's designed for RO water. FNB and FNG already have plenty of Calcium and Magnesium in them.

A little update... started to feed every day, fed with tap water and 5ml/g cal-mag. Second day on cal-mag, 90% of the curled up leaves are pretty much fixed. The not so yellow leaves are getting green again, and the really yellow leaves are slowly getting better. The leaves aren't crispy anymore. Hopefully things keep getting better over the next few days.
