so im new here and will introduce myself sooner than later in another post but i have a quiclk question first... diamasteous earth.... atm i have a 1 inch thick or so layer on the soil in pots. how do i get it to not turn to that pasty gob. and when i water should i remove it or just leave it!?

You maybe distributed top layer on too thick, imo. It'll settle in. If worried about oxygen, poke holes in the dia layers to allow roots to breathe, so to speak. Good luck!
