Hey buds, a friend gave me some leafs.

It happened around the 5th flowering week, on several plants. The leafs started turning red from the outer edge. Never seen this
any help? :)

best wishes :* :tree:

Just the oldest leaves right?

It looks like anthocyanins accumulated and are being expressed by the lack of chlorophyll due to the plant choosing to cannibalize the assimilated nutrients and compounds rather than utilize the leaves for photosynthesis.

In other words just chill it's probably normal.

If it's happening all up and down the plant or those leaves weren't shaded out or the lowest oldest ones then perhaps there's an issue.

The leaf curling up means it's phophorus deficiency. Especially in early flowering the plant needs more P and Mg.

:yeahthats Check your PH should be between 6.2 and 7.2 for phosphorus in soil? I printed out both of these and keep them in my grow room, but I don't really do much hydro lately.

And for good measure a GIS of marijuana phosphorus deficiency

I see the variety of responses ... and if this was my plant I 'd reckon it was just getting closer to being finished. 5 weeks into flowering the big leaves should nearly all be gone. Fallen off I mean. Never seen 'em go red before but as Articulate Scientist Mr Mustard has said, it's probly the cold.

On top of the phosphorus deficiency and the older leaves turning up, the red discoloration means you may also have a molybdenum deficiency because of using the wrong kind of nitrogen during flower - using nitrate instead of ammonium nitrogen.

Basically using a grow formula instead of a flowering formula during flowering.

So it could be a combination of 2 nutrient deficiencies.

With cold nights temps, a long flush and a good senescence I sometimes have nice red color on leaves from the seventh week but no fall.

5th week shouldn't be the end of flowering though, that's like 50% through, maybe 60%. Or is everybody growing fast strains and I'm the only dumbass still growing 10 week strains? :D

Oh yeah I wouldn't worry then. In the future I'd be interested if you hit one plant with extra phosphorus about week 4 though and see if it didn't purple up as much. I know some strains just gonna do it regardless though.

It is almost already the same case. These plants had batguano (added just before flip so assimilable after about 4 weeks) and organic bloom booster alguae based (week 4-7). This run cold temps helped a little.
In general, the color of the leaves when flush start has a major effect on final color. Plants that are green fade to yellow. Purple leaves fade to red. Plants that have a mix of green/Purple leaves did has a fall look.

WoW that's with guano? I'd be interested to see them without any extra phosphorus. What strain is that if I can ask?

First one is Dream Berry, and it was an hydro run so no guano and I think it was due to low temps (air and rez) and a big flush.
The second pic, is with guano added, an homemade cross, Bubble gum AK 47 x Ultra Platinium GSC F2

Next one is Ultra Platinium GSC hydro too (no guano) normal temps and standard flush:
