Whats the point of smoking first thing in the morning?

I'm a light smoker - social or just to relax and sleep. I have had an argument with friends over the years who wake and bake. But they wake and bake with indicas. What is the point? If it was for a chronic back pain, I would understand.

Just fer fun - although I couldn't every day, sometimes I'm hazy enuff - no need for more haze.

Best buzz of the day :sasmokin:

Because being high is better than being sober, especially in the morning. I don't like being high at work just incase i get found out and i find it soaks up all my energy once it's worn off. at the weekend i'l have a joint not long after i've woken up.

Smoking before you have to do work is a sure sign that you've got a problem.
I have not and will not ever go to my place of employment under the influence of alcohol or marijuana, and I think it's irresponsible to do so. Nobody can tell me that they are more efficient and better workers when they're stoned (unless you're an artist or something that in that nature I guess).

I used to work at a coffee-shop, and I'd be damned if I could keep up the high pace if I was stoned. I've worked at a bank as well for a number of years, and I think it would have been extremely unprofessional to be stoned.

Waking and baking is something I only do if I've got the whole day off, or at least don't have to be at work for another 5 hours.

Because it's about the only thing worth getting up for.

It really is the best high of the day. Roll out of bed to a packed bubbler...AHHHHH. Seems like the high is a lot more intense when I'm still waking up.

different strokes for different folks. i personally am much more social and talkative after a nice bowl of haze. sativas are very uplifting and insirational for me and they DO help me get tasks done. that being said, i dont smoke before work anymore. i dont think i had a problem when i used to and i dont think it affected my work negatively in any respect.

i just cant handle sitting around bored at work when im high and there's nothing left to do. it makes the time sloooooow doooowwwwn.

I guess this all depends on your employer, and how dedicated you are to the job. Wherever I've been there was always something to be done, but it was just a matter of how dedicated you were and if you felt there was a point to you doing it. i.e. Does increased productivity coincide with increased pay?

When I'm stoned, I tend to get stuck in my head. I'm every bit of an introvert as I am an extrovert, but pot tends to make me less social. Like you said...different strokes for different folks :joint:

I guess it depends on your attitude towards life. When I was a younger man, I figured I had some great thing I should accomplish -- some grand purpose. As life progressed and I ditched religion and all that bullshit, I started to realise that everything we do, in the long run, doesn't really amount to much -- "dust in the wind" as they say.

I used to think I needed to get all sorts of things accomplished "before I hit 30." Then it was "before I'm 40." Now, I'm thinking, "if I live for another 50 years, what the fuck am I going do with myself?" So these days I mostly work to pile up enough dough to where I don't have to work. Why? Dunno. Seems as good a plan as any other. So I don't do the wake n bake because I still have things I want to with my days, but I kind of suspect that I'm just chasing my tail (again).

But when I don't have any more of the money thing to bother with, I figure I might as well spend more time stoned. I almost envy those younger guys who can let go of all the bullshit society tells them they are supposed to be doing and just fire that fatty up. Life isn't short, people. It's loooong. Sometimes too long. 60? 70? 80 years? More? Fuck. I'm suprised we don't all die of boredom before cancer and heart disease and all that jazz catches up with us.

What else is so important that you can't take time for some fun first thing in the day?

A good Sativa is great for the morning but I have no clue how I would be able to function under a Indica influence. If I am going to work I will either not smoke or smoke just enough so that it lasts just long enough to get me through rush hour traffic, usually half bowl strength. To each his own though.

Happy Toking :rasta:

Not necessarily true. I am a trader, and nobody gives me a set monthly paycheck. If I fuck up...."that's it"... if u get my meaning. Many times, when youre sober, your tongue kinda gets tied when talking to a buyer, especially if you're in a "if I don't get that PO (purchase order) I'm not getting fed this month" kinda situation. In those times, smoking some quality mmj helps me calm down and speak w/ the buyer on "equal" terms- if u get what i mean.

Lotsa times, when the prev. 2-3 quarters have been dry without any business, and your savings have been depleted, and you have dependents to provide for...and the business environment is insecure, when a buyer suddenly comes w/a PO offer, lotsa traders immediately show their desperation in their body language when communicating w/ buyers and clients. The buyer is no philanthropist, he's a capitalist. And he'll use ur desperation to squeeze more out of you.

Smoking mmj has always calmed the fuck out of me in such times. Lots of comrads, especially in the trading field, can testify to this as well. At times, buyers will make u really tired deliberately by putting u thru endless waits and loops just before u actually begin negociation on price and terms of payment. Such as makin u haul ur ass to their offices (usually in the citys) @ 6:00 AM and makin u wait till 10:00 PM, w/o even offering u water.

So, when negociation actually begins, you have 0 energy left. Smoking sativas helps greatly in such situations also...as long as u dont smoke inside the buyers office. As High&Lonesome said "diff strokes for diff folks." .... ... .. .

But personally, while communicating w/ my buyers, the chances of seeing me dead are greater than the chances of seeing me sober lol...

have you ever tried it? you get a lot higher in the morning. dont smoke a ciggerette yet or drink coffee or any of your morning rituals, just smoke some weed. watch how quickly you have a new ritual! and besides, how are we gonna be high the whole day if we're not high in the morning? :joint:

Thats pretty funny cause i know atleast 5 people that work at a starbucks at one store, ranging from part time baristas to full time managers, who all run to the car for their "ciggerette breaks" mutiple times during a shift. Oh and its an extremely high volume store( multi-million dollar store), and the five of them have been working there from 2 to 7 years. Few of em swear smoking makes the whole thing much more bearable and has brought the five closer. Kinda funny, just different strokes for different folks.

Wake and bake is a special kinda stone.

I work 5 days a week, I don't smoke before going to work ever, but when I wake up saturday morning, its a true celebration of the weekend to take a few puffs in the AM. Its a way of celebrating the freedom of the weekend for me. Fuck the man!!

If I have very important things to do on my weekend, I might wait til noon to smoke, as I find my usual preoccupation during the day after a wake and bake is to RELAX, be mellow, and space out(unless I'm out camping or fishing, then it gives me energy!).

Seems like I stay a little bit stoned the rest of the day, even if I don't do any follow ups, any one else ever notice that?

I can get up and get stoned and function fine
you may think i have a problem but i seem to get along fine
bills are paid, work is done and i smile while it all happens
if you cant get high and function, well dont do it.
For me you can catch me on the wake and bake thread most days, weekdays or not
peace
