What's the coldest you've let your plant finish flowering at outside?

We left some lights on to keep our plants from starting to flower earlier in the season but now wondering how long I can go to let them try to finish. It's getting cold up here 44* parallel

I've harvested in light snow before lol

But usually
15c mostly no problem
10c least tolerant may stunt a bit
5c most will stunt
0 few strains can take a light frost
-5 well fuck, might as well run some fresh frozen hash rounds right then and there

also a few hours a night of chilly temps should not matter much.. Temps above are for 10+ hrs straight.

If you grow in the back yard and a light frost happens you may be able to save the plants if you get out right away and
mist them to melt the ice forming. Some fruit farms run sprinklers to extend their season a little when a frost appear.
The reason it works cause even cold water is warmer than ice.

Good Luck.

With a range of plants at 52 degree's I want my smoke coming down when night is dipping below 10 and days don't pass 15. Which is this week.
I can go another 2 or 3 weeks, and many plants need that in calendar terms. The cold starts to ruin the smoke though from here on. It's getting stronger in many cases, but I'm talking about the Palatability. A certain hardness to the ash, perhaps a bit darker in colour, that overall tastes like smoking bones. I feel quite sure the plants are sucking stuff up at the root, that they just load up with, as temps don't allow processes to complete.

I have worked with people that want to wait it out until the last moment. More interested in weight/appearance and strength. To me though, I need a nice flavour. Look at tobacco smokers, they know nothing of weight/appearance and strength. It's all about taste and mouth feel. That's how I am with my green. Which I burn neat.

The lowest is about 48F or 8.8C for a week. The purple colors really start getting deep in color in the low 50s or 48s. When the temps drop the plants rush their flower production and produce most of the mature resin. Cold weather is your friend in the cannabis world. 😎

In 2020 I let plants go as long as possible, temps dropping into the 30's some nights, in the 40's (degrees F) other nights.

Didn't harvest till the end of October.

Worked out great !

This year I'm a little more concerned about grow rips (neighbor found 2 skeezy looking dudes doing a recon mission in my driveway back in May).

I found out that exactly when Temperaturs exceed 4 Celcius, then it gets too could. I see plants change, multiple strains. Go look up Nighttemperatures from your Place. Cause thats a Limit you dont wanna eceed..

The plants continue making seeds for a whole month going below that, but Resinproduction seems to stop. Funnily the Kief i made of it has still a propper punch. But my genetics are powerful from the getgo.

Just if you want perfection, you have to consider about heated greenhouse. I think temperatures are putting the Limits , more than any other factors

Interesting point, I never had to harvest seeds that late but, I thought seeds production/maturation would crawl to a halt with temps nearing 0c

I've let them get in the high 30s outside. And let them get down around 55 indoors, my basement gets a bit cold in the winter. I gotta deal with mold outdoors, that's usually the decision on when I have to pull outdoors. But let them go until there finished or you notice there not growing or swelling anymore if they don't mold.

yes, even with temps going below 4 celsius, Seeds continued, very slowely, got acceptable dark, and round.

Exactly at around 0 Celsius in Nights, thats when there is nothing going on nomore . But its questionable how the seeds Genetic will end up beeing?

Atleast they sprout (low Rate) and the offspring has good Effects.

After growing weed from the 70s until now, I would say "what I say" is based only on my experience. Back in the early 80s, I remember the term Royale Blue Bloods was given to plants that were left outdoors in cold temps. Those purple and blue colored plants brought more interest to the weed. Good luck with your grow😎

My plants usually experience some temps down into the 40s before they are harvested. I had some plants go into mid November last year before they were harvested, they had some cool nights down into the 40s.

During this time of the year in my area the overnight temps can get somewhat cool, down into the 50s and 40s...but the day time temps tend to remain warm, with day temps around 80f to 90f. We get 35 to 40 degree temperature swings through the day this time of year.

55 this morning, and it's going to be around 93 degrees today.
