What's the best ozone generator?

Looking around at ozone generators. Just a can alone doesn't seem to do the trick for me so I was going to use the o3 to back up the can that I have.

My space is fairly humid. Around 40-65% on a pretty consistent basis. I've read that I won't get very good performance from a corona discharge unit with high humidity. So I was looking at the uv units which apparently aren't as affected by it.

I like the idea of the inline from uvonair but not sure how well they work. You see a lot of the cap1 and tigerair type units as well as the big boxes. Guess I'm just overwhelmed. Like buying a ballast on ebay - or a box of chocolates for that matter.

Anyone using these things that would care to lend a hand?

Thanks all.

40-65% isn't going to hurt a CD. I use an 8" inline CD and it works like a dream.

Any smell at all? Are you backing it up with anything? Also, which one? The uvonair or the big blue?

#!Bump!#

Really??? No one uses these things? Just want to make sure they work as promised before I drop $300 on one. Looking at the Big Blue Air in lines.

alright mate, i just recently purchased a hydrozone and it works great. i use mine outside my grow room to clear up any lingering smells that might escape. it can be used in the ducting aswell. i've heard that uvonairs work great but i went for the hydrozone because you can adjust the amount of ozone produced to suit the size of room it's being used in. i not sure if you can do the same with the uvonair. also the replacement bulbs for the uvonairs are about £50 here in the uk and the replacement ceramic tile used in the hydrozone is only £16. both can be used in rooms with high humidity. hope this helps mate.

hey spacecowboy-used the uvonair uv bulbs both the small one and the large one.the small uv ones dont seem to work that well too long.meaning the ozone seems to diminsh quickly when it does run.the bigger one was the screen one wrapped around glass tube.that one didnt work well either.i also used the air lazer which worked well.the secret is to supply the room with fresh air because if u split all the o2 into o3 the room will run out of oxygen to make ozone.keep the back of the ozone generator through a wall into a room with fresh air and the output pointed to where u want to get rid of smell.the best thing to do is to vent to the attic and use the o3 up there to kill remainder of smell. a great site would be airzone.com.they have ones i recommend.have the at400.ozone is tricky.you really want to use it to clean up stray smells.

Sorry for the delay Spaced - I use Uvonair inline cd with great success. Can fan, then ozone, to outside or into return air duct of ac/furnace blower. Backup with standalone can fan.

Thanks for everyone's input. Had to bump this - someone has to be using these things.

I'll have to do a little more diggin'. I plan on just keeping the thing on all day long and venting into the cold air return. We have a collection of cats and a couple dogs, so odor to destroy won't be any problem for the excess ozone. We'll have to see how it works out, don't want to choke the family out. So maybe a variable output unit would be best. See how it goes.

And no worries SW - thanks for coming back in. I'm not in a big rush.

I use the prozone models.The twister model was too big and even with a cycle timer cracked out too much .So i went with the cheaper model 1/4 its size about $79 new or $6.00 used at the thrift store and its perfect .It doesnt take much ozone unless your in a huge wharehouse or something.Get the cycle timer too to adjust the levels perfect.Even with a very light application ,plants can start yellowing ,so make sure ya start out very lightly with it

Thanks for the tip BP. I plan to use an inline though and put it on the back end of the output. Hopefully I won't see any yellowing!
