Take your backpack next time. Park at the information station at the top of carson Pass. The trail head there will take you all the way to the ocean if you so choose. We pack way up above kirkwood to Fourth of July lake. The fishing is like no other and there are very few people that venture there due to the rough terrain. We usually catch well over 100 beautiful red sided pink meat Brook Trout on a weekend. Your allowed to stay 3 days. You are also allowed to carry a gun, but it must not be concealed. There are bear and mountain lion there, and they do come around. Ive fired warning shots a few times. The water is ice cold. Tastes delicious, and is fun to float on in the middle of summer. Purple black rooster tails are the luhrs you use there.

I didn't realize that the Pacific Crest Trail came quite so close to us. That's a beautiful pic, just beautiful. You betcha that water is ice cold, Jesus it's cold!

Did you read about what's happening at Eagle Lake up in Lassen? I didn't realize that there's a trout that's bred there (native) and that that is the trout that's often used to stock other reservoirs throughout the state.

Fourth of July lake is one of my trail runs! As is Thunder Mtn out of the Carson Spur, Lake Margaret, and Granite Lakes out of Silver Lake. Ever do Pyramid Peak over in the Desolation Wilderness?

just moved to norcal from tri-state area about 3 months ago, and loving every bit of it! it does have some flaws for sure, as does every state.. but if you are an outdoor enthusiast, this is a great place to be. im really into skateboarding so ive been spending much of my summer getting some of the greatest skating ive ever experienced.. the valley is not so great, but i hope one day i can get into the sierras... its absolutely beautiful up there!! experienced tahoe and some amazing hikes in the area this summer, went to an incredible river spot on the yuba.. took some weekend trips into the bay.. man this is definitely the best summer ive experienced. going to school now to finish up my degree, and than considering going to davis for my bachelors. there is just so much to do out here its insane!

looking forward to warm winters instead of brutally cold ones for a change:)

very nice man.

Usually in these types of vids, the dude is sort of mumbling, in some cases extremely nasally.
I click your youtube link, and all of a sudden in this deep voice.

" THE BACKYARD!", and you got my attention lol. What a cool spot you got. THE STACKING. lol I loved it. It was like SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY commercials for motocross or whatever event.
