**sigh** Mt. Lassen. I really wanna take Seamaiden up there soon and over to McArthur-Burney Falls just north of there. Beautiful area without a doubt.

Yup.. If he/she wants to trek the back-country in Nor-cal, he should go with an experienced nor-cal hiker. :)

In the last 2 weeks, I have seen bear, bobcat, bald eagle, and today I saw a 300lbs multi-point mule dear 10 ft away before he saw me and ran. I also saw a big coyote about 50 yards away and a crap-load of wild turkey. I love it here..

p.s. watch out for those mountain lions, bobcats, and bear. always track your trails for large predator tracks and excrement. Always carry bear spray..

:woohoo:

Which one do they like? LOL

I ll carry a 50 thanks...

...hmm.. well.. if i wassa meat and other-things eating animal at my size, living on the range, I would be prepped.. Dumbshit on cotton and hot sauce - yes, please. Of Which, is also why I carry a retardedly-large, heavy, and sharp machete. ..sometimes in the `back a .40sw with HST rounds. ..shit, those are hard to get!

I'm in TN caring for my mother who's afflicted with cancer. But I would love to spend a full season in the Nor-Cal wilderness growing a few local strains. In my spare time I would enjoy camping, hiking, hunting, fishing, panning gold and enjoying all she has to offer. You guys don't know how good you've got it up there.

Life in California is the shit! The only negative for a native east coaster is the ground really feels like the state can float away at any moment. Besides that, the women are beautiful, people are hella nice, the herb and weather are great! I have yet to see Mexican brick since I've been here...the worst I've seen would still fetch 4k+ on the east coast. Unbelievable! If you love herb you are retarded for not catching a flight to Cali and partaking in the festivities.

I may have posted here already back in the thread somewhere, but anyway.... sorry if I am double posting here... Just had to pipe up about the pricing happening right now... I just got a "special" zip of mix-n-match from a delivery service for 90 and both the gdp and purps are rock hard. Noteworthy because I can remember paying like 150 for oz.'s of kind back in the mid 80's here in NorCal. This pricing is much closer to how medicine should be priced, IMO. Will this hold up? Doubt it seriously. Pretty damn nice while it's going on though! I hope that is the last smoke I have to pay for...LOL.

Hear ya there brother... Prices are cheaper for dank smoke ($100. A oz- than it cost to grow unless you go 1000w 6-10 ladies and make it all the way to smoke.
I think the prices are stable now and here to stay. Might even drop if Colorado and the other states start supplying N.Y and the east with their smoke and leave our dankness here. Hate having others come grow 1000 + dank ladies and bail with the smoke and money and leave us the clean up and trash our forest. The seeds and clones are beyond compare and allow anyone with the desire to grow. The ability to grow dankness the 1st time they put seed ta soil. Yes this is the greatest generation to be a part of .... We live in a time that will be remembered 100 years from now as a beginning. The start of the 1000 year rein of marijuana. Alcohol and hard drugs fade away by choise and countries compete over who grows the dankest buds and not politics.... World peace due to a great buzz... and it all started in California... How lucky are we? Peace...

California Beaches

I was staying at a beach house in Rio Del Mar about 10 years ago. I took my young sons out onto the beach, where they began playing with two other young boys. The mother of those two boys turns out to be a 5'-11" actress. Shes French Canadian, and very beautiful, with a knockout figure.
She did some movie parts, but her commercials for Sony, and Subaru (with Paul Hogan), were ones I recognised.

She shot up here a few months later (7 hour drive) for a three day rendezvous, and I had some of the best dates of my life.
We had a great time, and She is still my close friend. She doesnt smoke weed, and I didnt tell her that I do. Thats why I cant be with her now.

But anyway! Thats a true story about what is possible in California. Especially on a Santa Cruz Beach!

So I've moved around a lot. Pretty sick of it, and sick of cold weather. I'm contemplating moving to CA should a job open up. I was making 52k a year working 60 hours a week and hating my job. Now I think to myself if I'm making 35-40k a year at a job I can tolerate in a place thats warm. Then maybe it's a step in the right direction. So maybe you guys can tell me, can you live in California in a nice area making 35-40k a year? How expensive is everything out compared to say the midwest? Right off the bat I'm sure gas would be more expensive. What are people like in general in CA like? Are people who aren't just trying to sell you shit apt to spark up a conversation with you and be friendly, or is it more like Minnesota where its like heaven forbid some stranger is talking to me?

"Nice" is subjective. What are you looking for? Rural? Urban? Suburban? California's a big place.

Honestly, 35k/year is a tough one to pull off, but with roommates it's possible...I suppose.

How expensive is everything out compared to say the midwest?

Very. Never been to the midwest, but I've been to the south before and life ain't cheap here. Of course, like much of California, it depends on the area you choose. Some areas are cheaper than others, but it's generally pretty expensive all over compared to some other parts of the country.

Right off the bat I'm sure gas would be more expensive.

Compared to most of the country, yes.

What are people like in general in CA like?

It all depends on where you are exactly. People can vary from one part of the state to the next. Most people are nice enough.

Are people who aren't just trying to sell you shit apt to spark up a conversation with you and be friendly, or is it more like Minnesota where its like heaven forbid some stranger is talking to me?

People are pretty laid back for the most part. You won't have a problem meeting people.

you'd have no problem making it on 35k in the right small/medium city. definitely not in or around any major city's. The farther you are away from lets say San Francisco the cheaper things gets, thats half the reason for so many damn commuters. I think the problem at hand would be to find the job that pays you 35k a year unless you got some skills of some sort or in the computer tech buss. not to hard to find but ive just noticed a big price drop in wages, theres now 200 ppl going for 3 postions, you will always find someone willing to do it for less. so the job used to start at 12.50 now it starts at 9.75 because they can. stupid..

Gas for the most part is always 10 to 30 cents higher then anywhere else but latley its been fairly cheap, think i paid 3.19 not sure what it is else where, but not more then a month ago it was 4.75$

you dont really have people just standing around trying to sell you shit and talk to you.unless your in a part of town you shouldnt be in. but most people are cool, usually situation dependent, if your out walking your dog in the morning, seems everyone out wants to talk, good mornings here and there. sit down at a bar next to someone you wont have any problem striking up convo. if your out going you will be fine.

I know of no area in California where making that kind of scratch will really net you much of a living. Even where I am, where housing prices are very low, but the cost of living (food, gas, electricity, propane unless you're lucky enough to be living in an area with natural gas supplies) is high, that amount is going to be tight.

Down in San Diego what you describe is the norm, people just don't talk to you very often. Where I am now (east of Sact'o in a very rural, very Christian, very RED, very 49'r mindset), folks are generally quite friendly. Unless they catch you on their land, then you're liable to get shot. SF..? Depends on where you are, IME. If you're in one of the more snooty areas then don't expect folks to smile at you, let alone speak. So generally the more urbanized areas aren't so friendly, whereas the rural areas are.

One of my favorite things about this area is when I make the dreaded grocery shopping trip into town. I tend to talk to myself, and when I had kids no one paid me much mind, they assumed I was talking to one of them (my boys, about the price of bananas, really? ok). Up here? All kinds of folks will join into what was a monologue with myself, and turn it into a conversation! They don't look at me like I've cracked my noggin. Pull into the gas station, you're likely to see some people just hangin' out in front, chatting and watching traffic go by. They'll strike up a conversation with you. I like that openness and friendliness.

I agree with all the above. And since there are so many Transplants, generalizations are not very worthwhile.

However, some Midwest People say that Folks in CA can be shallow, especially in SoCal.

Some say that making REAL friends is Easier Back East. I might agree with that.

California has the Geography that the Whole world is rightly envious of. Breathtaking. I live in a place that exceeds almost any place I have ever been in terms of dramatic beauty. Now, if the Pot Market would revert back to its; previous vigor, that would be superb. Unlikely.

There are always exceptions to the rule, but after living in many places and 20+ years in SF, NorCal and the Tropics - this is my Opinion.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to SeaMaiden again.
Ok, we'll do it this way... :respect: :respect: :respect:

:blowbubbles:

That sounds somewhat how things are here SeaMaiden.

How is the opportunity to open a small business and make it on ones own?
Would an old hillbilly like me stand a chance as long as im honest with everyone?

On a side thought...
Wonder how hard it would be to get across state lines with tanks of bottle gas strapped/chained in the bed of your pickup appearing as welding supplies?
