What's happening here? My guess is too much fertilizer?

Hio,

I was gone for a week and potted some plants as well as left some in the old soil. My bud just sporadically gave em light and water.

The soil I used was 40% cheap store soil (gonna check npk), 10% perlite and 40% all-mix. I might or might not gave em bio bizz fertilizers (cant remember, stupid weed fog)

So, let's roll:

First we have my biggest seedling which was super healthy when I left it, and just got potted on oct 12th. then it was hit with mild light and when I came back (I supposedly gave em fertilizers and boost crap) it still looked and now this:

Within the tent there were more plants dying

Seed Whore
Ouch, :comfort:

Not sure what kind of soil you are using. But baby seedlings in good soil don't
need much nutrients. Also if the soil dries out too much it's no good either.

Reusing soil with seedlings is the problem. Next time, save used soil for bigger plants
and use less of it. Only use new soil for your baby seedlings from now on.

It's 40% allmix, 10% perlite and 50% supermarkert flower-soil with following components:

Nitrogen 200mg/l (CaCl2)
Phosphate 380mg/l (CAL)
Potassium oxide 1200mg/l (CAL)
Mg 150 mg/l (CaCl2)
Sulfur 450mg/l (whole)

although it is pretty cheap soil, it was tested w 5/6 rating and is only 25% as expensive as a premium product with the same rating

also I did not re-use a lot of soil, I rather put 5l of soil that was in several pots (but not touch with roots yet) back into a 100l container. the rest is all bag-fresh soil.

I guess a problem was me being away which led to a different watering by my bud. when I left for vacation, everything looked fine. especially the seedlings in the 50ml containers who all look funky right now

I'm gonna agree it's over-fertilization, but also, I think I saw the face of god in that wall of text.
ya, me to. "Just click and drag images into your post!" was a lie

I wonder how this fertilization has happened in the last days, I can remember spraying some bio bizz alga mic but that was like ten days ago. Well, time to buy fkin seedling-soil again

- Seedlings with heavily fertilized soil
- Economizing on the medium is the last thing anyone should do

You stated that you used 'all mix', however not which brand - Biobizz or Plagron.

Either way, those are heavily fertilized soils that have the wrong nutrients for small plants anyway. Small plants need P, K (i.e. flowering food in a low dose of 0.4 EC), and a little Mg for the leaves (0.1 EC of epsom salt).

The best medium to start seeds or clones in is bagged coco coir (Canna, Plagron, Biobizz) because it has no fungus gnats in them and no nutrients, watered every 2-3 days. Drying coco coir encourages root growth. Be sure to let new coco coir soak in water for at least a day. For clones you use no nutrients, for seeds you use the bloom food formula above.

Or, you can use a light mix top layer and all mix for the rest of the pot, with extra solid nutrients mixed into the bottom half of the pot. And then feed with the flowering food solution once or twice to encourage root growth from the extra Phosphorus (P).

yeah sorry, it is biobizz. I got gifted a whole bag so I'm using it.

Thanks a lot, gonna try out the idea with the layered soil :)

I would recommend Fox Farm Ocean Forest Soil 100%. I put my seedlings in that and just water. Even when I re-pot, I’m re-potting with the new Soil the soil is loaded with nutrients. No need for nutrients until they get bigger. Just my 2 cents
