TWO ARRESTS, WARNINGS IN LAKE COUNTY MARIJUANA CRACKDOWN

Enforcing a disputed 10-day old emergency ordinance, Lake County authorities arrested two Santa Rosa men Thursday and warned marijuana growers at three other properties they had 48 hours to dispose of excess pot plants.

The day-long enforcement operation resulted in the seizure of 399 plants, most of them from a St. Helena Creek Road property near Middletown. Two Santa Rosa men encamped in a trailer had an elaborate grow of 303 plants they claimed were for Southern California medical marijuana co-ops and for themselves, the Lake County Sheriff's Office said.

The plants were illegal because the regulations adopted July 9 by county supervisors prohibit marijuana cultivation on unoccupied land. All of the plants that were seized came from properties without residential structures.

In addition, authorities cited conditions off St. Helena Creek Road that included a pit for disposal of human waste and an illegal well drilled next to a spring used to irrigate the potted plants, the sheriff's office said.

The suspects, Michael Joseph Simon, 30, and Peter Jefferson Wainwright, 41, also had a .40-caliber semi-automatic pistol and a substantial amount of methadone for which neither had a prescription, the sheriff's office said.

Elsewhere, growers with 84, 80 and 94 marijuana plants respectively were given 48 hours to bring their cultivation into compliance with the new regulations.

The ordinance includes thresholds for the number of plants that can be grown depending on the size of the property. The maximum is 48 plants on parcels of 40 acres or more.

This is so dirty. Even the people who don't get arrested are still going to lose huge investments in terms of water, plants, soil, and time. Seems like something like this, if they were trying to be fair to the community whatsoever, would be done pre-grow season or at the end of harvest, no right in the middle after everybody's plants are too big to move.
I know this is preaching to the choir, but it really irks me.

it irks us all who rock out in the red hills brotha but at least its not 6 like those shisty bastards were tryin to pass - that shit was ridiculous !!

plus i think its more the feds with the locals help and knowledge of the hot spots then just lake county's "finest" goin to war with their citizens
i see WAY more unmarked taurs rollin around with dudes in collared shits and shades then the marked cars with uniforms

Question about Lake County
I had a few questions about Lake Co mmj outdoor grows and you seem to be educated on the subject.

I have a friend that has been invited to do a 99 plant mmj grow on a giant lot out that way. As far as I know they are just throwing up a small trailer and roughing it out for the season.

So my first question is are 99 plant grows still alowed in Lake co or has it been cut down to 48 plants yet?

My second question is is it still state-county legal to grow on vacent lots with a mmj license, or does there have to be a pemenant residense with an address.

So pretty much asking if they will be coverd by state law growing 99 plants on a large vacent lot?
